Harvest moon tonight

The harvest moon is so gorgeous tonight. It is golden, hanging low and large. Wish I had shown it to my cute grandson before I left for home. He loves spotting the moon.

I just looked out and saw it shining over Southern Nevada and thought "how gorgeous"....and then the thought "all the crazies will be out" overcame me! :)

I saw it earlier and remembered when my DGS,now 9,was just a little tyke.We were standing on the deck looking at the harvest moon and he pointed to it.I said,"That's the moooon" and he pointed to it again and said,"Moooon".LOL That was the first word he said that was plain enough to recognize.
My dogs,well not mine but DS's,are barking their heads off right now.Hope they are just barking at the "moooon" and there aren't any "crazies' out there!LOL

Well thanks, that's hopeful. Your the second person who has said that (clem forum last month). You would not believe the number of people who inundated my inbox wanting those. I was thinking I could grow them and sell them. Hosta is hot, too. Now the stones. Chipmunks dig everything I set out in any kind of pot, porch boxes, open container if I don't put stones in it or cover with chicken wire. And there's few things they can't or won't climb. Once the plant gets big enough, they usually leave it alone, but I can't count on it. Sometimes they ignore the stones and dig anyway. The stones also do keep plants from drying out as fast but I wouldn't use them just for that.

I read this on another site last night: December 12 Â The Full Cold Moon Sky watchers will be dazzled by an exceptionally high, bright, and large Moon. In fact, this Moon is 14% bigger and 30% brighter than other full Moons this year. Why? The Moon is both in its full phase and at a point in its orbit that is nearest Earth, called its perigee. When these events occur together, the Moon is closer to Earth than usual. The effect? The Full Cold Moon will appear especially large near the horizon as the Sun sets. The Moon is also high at this time of year; when it's overhead (near midnight), it will light up the landscape. Take a magical stroll and see your world at night. You won't need a flashlight! Thanks Patty! Will check into it! Love the star drapped sky, the moon.......I did smell rose fragrance in the air, have to find out which one........will report it back the rose name...... I think the fragrant roses are Intrigue and Miss All American Beauty. Beautiful scent! :-) If I see more these roses at Walmart next year, I'd buy them all! Miss All American Beauty was from Walmart, Intrigue roses were from Breck's bargain sales-5 for $19.99.

Was just reading that it is also called the Beaver moon! When the trappers saw it they knew that it was time to set their traps to get warm furs for the winter.

It was beautiful from Oklahoma, too.
Seeing those kinds of sights always make me feel so blessed---but so small in the grand scheme of things!

I saw it last night! Magnificent! I started singing "Shine on, shine oon Harvest Moon". My daughter asked me to stop.

"Harvest Moon" by Neil Young....I also noticed how beautiful the moon was went I went to work yesterday. I'm a morning person and I love to watch the moon "go down"....

It was very pretty here also. And appropriate, as we have started out in the fields with harvest.

When I went to the field this morning - I could still see the moon! That was at 7:00 am!! The sun and moon were both up.
