I am thinking it is going to be an early winter. We had frost last night and it is only mid September. I usually try to wait until Nov. 1 to turn my heat on but now I am hoping I can wait until Oct. 1.

Some trees around here (central Texas) are changing color - but it's difficult to tell if it's autumn, or if they're simply dying.

I have 3 oaks I've begun watering once a month in this "exceptional" drought, because they're big, old, and they shade the house. They are the curb-appeal, money trees (even though we have no plans to sell).

Pretty much everything else around the house, the shrubs, the vegetables, all annuals fried in the sun months ago. And we've hit 80 or so days over 100 degrees.

I'm longing for autumn.

I'm in Wisconsin and I love this fall like weather. I did a happy dance this morning. I still have the windows open in my bedroom. This is good sleeping weather.

I'm with you Scissors! I love this weather. It reached into the low 70's today and at the moment...it's 52 degrees and dropping. I could take this weather 365 days a year. ;-)

Sweater Weather!

Don't get me wrong, I'll happily take this over the 95ð temp, 80ð dewpoint days we suffered! Sweating through those days I kept thinking only a few months until 50ð. I guess I was busier than I realized this past summer and it did go by quickly. I was even thinking about doing some holiday decorating this year. The nice weather puts me in a good mood... can even handle the thought of the holidays this year! :)

It's cool 57 degrees and sunny here on Long Island- a perfect "fall" day. I already got my rake out. Leaves are looking kind of dried out,but no color yet.

Even my kids are telling me it feels like the weather around halloween or Thanksgiving.

It won't be a pretty year as far as the leaves go because of the drought. It is a relief not to have those record setting highs we've had. Apparently, we are now setting record level lows. May be a bumpy fall/winter.

Yeah, I'm a liking it!!! It is easy to put a little warmer clothes on, but one sure is limited in how much one can take off to be cool....in my case....a blessing. Ha!
There is a tree in the yard of a house on the corner, I think is diseased because it gets all ablaze way earlier than any other around here. Right now it is over half bright orange. Beautiful!

I went out to run an errand this morning and had to scrape my car!!!! Ever since we got the new riding mower my car has to sit outside....that will be changing SOON!!!!

the trees around us are changing from green to brown and dead! Losing one of my big old oaks that shades my house is just heart breaking, even watering is not helping. The temps have been so high, over 100, for so many days it has basically cooked the trees from the inside. They had a special on the news about it and warning if any trees appear to be brown and dead not to wait to cut them down because the ones they are seeing are very weak and the middle of them is turning to a mush. The heat is cooking the tree sap. Never seen anything like it before.

Very sad to hear of big trees dying. I love trees. Two days ago it was 85 and yesterday at the same time it was in mid 50's. I love it, and although we only had four days above 100, most of July was in the 90's. It's climate change..get used to it. Things will only get worse. All the terrible weather this year ought to prove it even to the deniers. We have not recovered from the floods here last week. We have had tornadoes ,floods , drought (in July) and earthquake and we are in an area which normally sees none of these.

We've had a couple of nights below 50F -- and DRY! I've had the sprinklers on twice in the last ten days. Supposed to get to 70 over this weekend.

We removed a ton of buckthorn from along the creek. (Eight guys; chipper going all day.) Now we have to plant some arborvitae to screen the house from the road. We are lucky we hardly had to water all summer because the new plants are going to need some.

Looks like another La Nina winter. That means another bonanza for the guy who plows our driveway, but also some much needed rain on Maui.
