Here's my Brownie Brittle story. I found it after Christmas at a Wal-mart near us. Thought it looked interesting, so I got a bag. Checked the price and it was 75% off and only 65 cents!!! I figure it must have been a Christmas item, but put in the regular cookie section. I opened it and couldn't put it down!! SO GOOD! Didn't think it would be so light and crunchy. Brittle sounds harder. Went back to Wal-mart and snatched up 4-5 more bags. Served it for Book Club and everyone liked it. I saw some at Costco, but did not think having a bag that big would be a good idea! Was afraid I'd eat all of that too! Went back to Wal-mart, but someone must have found the bargain because they were all gone :(

It's too late now, because I think your other post said you were planning on having them for desert last night.. but I made a brownie trifle (a couple of times) during the past few weeks and the cooked part around the edge would have worked great for that... brownies, but just presented a little differently. Cut the cooked part in 1 inch squares. Put some on the bottom of a glass dish. Add a layer of fudge instant pudding. Then a layer of whipped topping, then repeat. I topped mine with the whipped topping layer with crushed toffee sprinkled on top (the kind you buy like chocolate chips, for cookies, etc) but it would also have been good topped with bittersweet chocolate shavings, or any one of a number of other things, just to make it a little prettier then leaving the plain topping. It makes a very beautiful, elegant desert and people think you put a lot of work into it :-)

Oh, I've been to Hunstville a few million times. That's where my ex is from. His dad worked at Redstone, but then, who hasn't? ;) Our first date was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving 1998, in Murfreesboro, and we talked and drove, and ended the evening in Hunstville sitting in the driveway, looking at the stars. I spent the night in the guest bedroom of his parents and they woke to meet me first thing in the morning. Lovely, huh? I shoulda known then, he wasn't very good at thinking ahead. Been down HWY 231 more times than I care to remember. My favorite, bestest ever, well loved Huntsville restaruant is Ol' Heidelburg (next to the HUGE Mexican restaurant in the strip mall). Greatest pork schnitzel in hunter's sauce. Mmm. Can't recreate it still. Ah good times. Their family spent quite of time stationed in Germany and so, we've been there loads. Good carrot cake too. oh lordy! What a mess! #1 my oven is not level. Half of it burned before it was half done. #2 I must not have sprayed the pan well enough. It wouldn't come off. I banged the pan on the counter, and some came loose, enough to taste. Tried scraping the rest off and crumbs flew EVERYWHERE. It's in the sink, soaking What I tasted was ok tho
