My son had T-Mobile,nothing but trouble! We have Virgin-Mobile.Love it! No contract and unlimited calling anytime for under $60.00.You can also get unlimited texting for $10.more.I'll never have a contract carrier again!
DD has Boost and she likes it.Same low anytine minutes and no contract.The only problem with either of these is they don't have as much of a selection of phones as some of the other larger contract carriers.Doesn't bother me because I just need a plain jane.I don't text much or go on the web with my phone anyway.

Not suppose to be any contract, of course you have to buy a new phone--did not say anything about rebates etc. Wonder if is would free for all calling regardless where you live--if you could even get service?

There's no contract, but limited phones to chose from. $45. a month (unlimited calls and texts) and $25. for each additional family member on the plan.

I have had T-Mobile for years and never had a problem with them.

I have had T-Moble prepaid for two years and never had a problem.

At $45 a month for the primary user and $25 a month for each additional line, that would cost me about $6 MORE a month than I pay for five of us to have Verizon with 1400 talk minutes and unlimited texting. I pay $139.10 a month. (Our phones were virtually free with contract) The $45 would be cheap for ONE line though. Also....by the time they add all the other taxes, I'll bet the WalMart plan is even higher than stated.

I've also had T-Mobile prepaid for several years. No problems, no coverage-area problems, I watch the store ads for refill-minutes cards on sale. I have just a cheap flip-phone; I don't like talking on the cell, I don't like people calling me on the cell when I'm out doing other things (unless it's an emergency); I basically don't like always having to be reachable and connected. No, I'm not a hermit. Yet.

(But I DO like the fact that if I've answered a call that gets "tiring," I can say "My minutes are running out. I might suddenly lose you!" And then, somehow that happens!)

I don't know why anybody would use a middleman for their cell service. It looks like WalMart isn't leveraging its buying power very well to get you a better deal.

Are you looking for prepaid service or a contract service? I know people with Tmo and with Tmo *contract* service, it's very acceptable, but Tmo *prepaid* is not very good in this area at least. Coverage isn't great. I had a Tmo prepaid phone side by side and my current one (on Verizon) gets far better coverage. Side by side with the AT&T prepaid phone I had at the same time, AT&T would pick up where Tmo wouldn't and Tmo would pick up where AT&T wouldn't but Verizon picked up everywhere that either of them would and far more areas. Check the *real* coverage area carefully, especially being in ND, I'm sure cell coverage is going to be far from that in NYC!

I travel to northern MN often enough so I want as good a coverage as I can get. They're improving their GSM coverage up there but it's still very spotty. I'm thinking about a second phone to test but so far can't justify the cost.

Walmart has been heavily advertising the "round down" prepaid service and a friend was considering it however so far, he hasn't gotten it. He had to give up his work phone so he's considering prepaid because of financial considerations.

Cell service is VERY localized. You can't go by someone in a different part of the country having good or bad experiences - it just doesn't apply! Not unlike saying have you gone to a doctor - what were the results?. Different doctor, different situation, just like different cell service, different situation. You won't be using the cell towers in California, Tennesee or Vermont from home so don't get confused by the apples to turnips comparisons. Examine your needs and desires, balance against your budget and check possibilities would be my suggestion.

I had T-Mobile for a year or two and had no problems at all. I switched to Verizon after moving here, because only Verizon and AT&T have decent service in this area (kind of remote here).

T-Mobile is known for having about the highest customer service rating of all major cell phone companies. I've been with them almost 10 years and not a problem. Reps are always friendly and knowledgeable.

I've had T-Mobil for years and have had no trouble. I have the Five Faves where all your calls to one of those five people are always free no matter how long you talk. They have discontinued that now but it will be good for as long as the phone still works.

In Consumer Reports, Verizon has the highest satisfaction rating in about every major city.
I used to have TMobil, but reception was spotty in my area. I now have Straight Talk which uses Verizon pre-paid netowrk, much better coverage. In northern MN, I can get texts through even if calls won't go, most of the time. I pay $30.00 a month, 1,000 calls, 1,000 texts, 30 mb of data. Data is slow, don't use it much.

I've had Virgin Mobile pre-pay for years, basically for emergencies when I'm traveling. Recently, I decided I want to be able to text and get on the net. I bought the LG Rumor Touch (love it! It's not a "smart phone" but it's smart enough for me) and bumped up to the $25/mo. pre-pay. I get 300 phone mins. (used 42 the 1st month) UNLIMITED text (use that a LOT with the adult kids) and UNLIMITED data (that WM TMobile phone doesn't) which I use on the net. DH is going VM pre-pay when his Verizon contract is done. The $25/mo. plan will save us over $300/yr. (that doesn't even factor in the 0.15/text he's paying -- and the adult kids text a lot.) And he'll be on the net.
