Miele Master Chef oven timer-- what's your max time?
Comments (12)I'm positive it's minutes -- not hours. My Miele Master Chef has one other design feature that I find annoying. I often do very long slow braises. If I want something to cook for the entire day at a very slow temperature, I have to remember to check the oven after five hours. Apparently, Master Chef thinks I've left the oven on by accident. After five hours it goes into fault mode and turns itself off. I have to then clear the fault and restart the oven. There doesn't seem to be any way to override this feature....See Moremicro/conv oven with separate timer & cook?
Comments (2)I have a Kenmore Advantium (made by GE, don't know if they still make it) and I can use the timer no matter what else is happening. The problem you describe seems really odd to me....See MoreHow often do you use your Miele steam oven?
Comments (6)I looked at the Miele website & the manuals for the two steam ovens listed there--these are newer than when we were making our appliance decisions over a year ago. For either one, it does not appear that you can select anything but 100% steam. I do not see any way in the manual to select convection only, zero steam or any other steam. It would seem that Miele's use of "convection" means that the heat source is not radiant but surrounds the food (with the steam). The manual says that you can change temperatures, however, the manual also states that your cooking containers must be heat resistant up to 212 degrees, implying that 212 is the maximum, which is consistent with 100% steam. Our Gagg combi-steam has one knob for temperature and another knob for selecting steam at 100%, 80%, 60%, 30% or zero. If you select the steam % & then click the temperature knob one click to the left for the "suggested temperature" setting, it will set a default temperature for it, 210 degrees for 100% steam on up to 330 degrees for zero percent steam. However, oven temperature may be selected from 85 degrees F up to 450 degrees....See MoreTimer for delayed roasting
Comments (11)Yes, I realize it's not a great idea to leave meat waiting to cook inside the oven for too long. I don't think I've ever had the delay set for more than an hour. I do see some ranges with automatic shut off timers, which would be helpful even if there's no automatic (delayed) start. I have considered getting our old range restored because it seems so much more roomy and reliable and comfortable to work with than the newer models. It's still an option, but the old cooktop is electric and we want to switch to gas so we're doing our research to find a replacement first. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!...See Morecynic
