Yummy/Rediculous snack!

This must be sinful!

It is SOOO Yummy! I love a sweet/salty combination.

I am eating potato chips dipped in carmel topping!

I just though confessing would remove some quilt - NOT SO!

Hmm, I think potato chips dipped in chocolate syrup would be good. I ADORE salty and chocolate.

Two favorite recipes I created when I had too much of everything coming all at once. Both are family favorites. ZUCCHINI POTATO SAUTE Â¼ Pound Bacon, diced 2 Cups Diced Potatoes, Â½" dice 1 Medium Onion, minced 6 Cloves Garlic, finely minced 1 Medium Zucchini, Â½" dice 1 Medium Green Pepper, seeded and diced 4 Ounces sliced Fresh Mushrooms 6 Plum Tomatoes, diced, keep the seeds and juice Butter and Olive Oil for sautÃ©ing In a large frying pan, add the Bacon and sautÃ© until fat is starting to render. Add the Potatoes and cook over medium heat, covered until Potatoes begin to get tender. Add Onions and Garlic and sautÃ© only until Onion just starts to go clear. Pour into a bowl and cover to keep warm. In the same pan add a swirl of Olive Oil and sautÃ© the Zucchini and Mushrooms uncovered over high heat, until they begin to color up but is still al dente. Reduce heat, add the Potato Onion mixture back in. Add the Peppers and stir to combine. Season with MortonÂs NatureÂs Seasons, add 2 tablespoons Butter to moisten. Heat until the Peppers become just tender, add the Tomatoes, cover and turn off the heat. Let stand 5 minutes and stir to combine. Serve immediately. and: ZUCCHINI FETA PANCAKES 1 Pound Zucchini, grated. 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt Â¾ Cup crumbled Feta Cheese 3 Large Eggs, lightly beaten 3 Green Onions, tops and whites thinly sliced 1 Cup All-purpose Flour Â¼ Cup Chopped Pine Nuts 3 Tablespoon Chopped Fresh Dill 3 Teaspoons Chopped Fresh Oregano 4 Garlic Cloves, finely minced Â¼ Teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper Olive Oil, for frying Combine Zucchini and Salt in a mesh colander and set aside. Rinse in cold water and press as much of the water out as possible. In the mean time, combine Cheese, Eggs, Green Onion, Pine Nuts, Dill, Oregano, Garlic and Pepper in a large bowl. Fold in drained Zucchini and just enough Flour to hold the batter together. Using an ice cream scoop to portion the batter, fry in Olive Oil until golden, flip and cook the other side. Continue frying in batches until all batter is used, holding the cooked cakes on a plate in a warm oven. For the pancakes I shred and pack one pound bags and freeze them for use in the winter. Because so much of the water goes away when you thaw and drain I use 2 bags. Also go easy on the flour, you really want just enough to bind the mixture, not to make a batter.

When I still worked I used to take bentos all the time since there were no readily available food sources near my office. Leaking was not a problem with the ones I had. Www.justbento.com has lots of good ideas, not all of which are Japanese. Maki at Just Bentos also talks about storing a "stash" of bento fillers in the freezer. Other than that, dinner leftovers were my staple. I would also pack bread, filling, and lettuce separately to combine on the spot into a nice, non-soggy sandwich. Also, if you look around a little you can find small packages of real cheese (processed cheese is just industrial (i.e. "cheap") cheese melted with salt -- nothing yucky or chemical added to it despite the name) from France where cheese is more highly respected. A handful of crackers and some fruit will round out a meal. Pink Lady apples resist browning when cut and will be perfect in appearance at lunch time if tossed into a solution of a pinch of Fruit Fresh (vitamin C) and water as you cut them. If nuts were not an issue, then almond or peanut butter would be great accompaniments instead of cheese.

Not me. I love just plain potato chips. Either ruffled or regular.
I never got the salty and sweet thing, but that's no to say you can't enjoy them!

In one of our eastern provinces, chocolate covered potato chips is a specialty of theirs.

I just knew I would be amoung many others with good taste! LOL

I bet they would also taste great with chocolate, but I'm not a fan of mustard. Humm, ranch dressing sound good too.

Hay that sounds good. I usully have a half cup of water and dip my chips in the water to get some of the salt of.

HayJud-- here's a riff on that: Potato chips dipped in Nutella.
(for the salty/sweet, tho, pretzels stand up a bit better to the consistency of the Nutella).

I will tell you a ridiculously good sweet/salty snack.

Frito Scoops
1 cup white corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup peanut butter

Spread the scoops on a cookie sheet. Heat the corn syrup and sugar just to a boiling point(stirring frequently) and then remove from heat. Add peanut butter. Immediately pour over fritos and let set.

We order pound boxes of chocolate covered potato chips from a shop in FL during the winter, occasionally. Ruffled chips, milk chocolate- they are to DIE for! Totally decadent and addictive.

STOP!!! you're making my mouth go crazy.. as i sit here being good eating pumpkin, soy, almond nut mix with dried cranberries, no salt...sigh....

I lucked out just after Christmas ...

... when I went to write a cheque to a local church (where many of our forebears lived, but which I rarely attend) ...

... the semi-treasurer (her counterpart had gone to FL) had received a fairly large box of store-brand candies a lot like turtles, but they had crystals of sea salt on the outside, which she doesn't like ...

... so she gave them to me.

I tried them as is(was) and was only partially impressed ...

... so I rubbed most of the salt off of a few and then tried them ... more to my liking.

I thought of going back to the lady, to suggest a joint venture ... that I keep a few and give the rest to her, with the suggestion that she just become ...

... a rubber!

(A suggestion that sort of stayed a-borning in my mind, I guess - I haven't acted on it, yet. Actually, there are still several left [I like to keep goodies to enjoy over a period] ... so I guess that I could still act on that idea).
