What's for dinner 9/27?

We are having a much needed rain right now and it is really coming down. This is what happens when a cold front comes down from the north. We aren't going to cool off much according to the weatherman, but this rain is wonderful.

Tonight we're having breaded, baked pork chops, baked sweet potatoes and fresh green beans. I like my baked sweet potato with butter and cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top. How do you eat them?

And, what's for dinner where you are?

Honey Ham Steaks
Baked Sweet Potatoes (DH and I love them plain!)

Steamed Fresh Asparagus

Guess I'd better leave work so we can eat before the sun comes up tomorrow. lol!

Meat Loaf!!! Everyone who had meatloaf in the past week, raise your hand!!!! LOL

I sauteed onions and carrots and put them in the meatloaf.
Yummy. Hubby loves my meatloaf and he loved the veggies in it too. heehee

Baked potatoes and broccoli with it.

Went all out last night... I've never done Chinese, except for an occasional stir fry, and I had a new cookbook :-) I made: Orange Chicken Shrimp in Lobster Sauce Kung Po Pork Served with Rice and some sort of oriental rice noodles, along with (purchased) eggrolls and fortune cookies. Emi and her boyfriend joined Gary and I for dinner and I received soooo many compliments. It took about 2 1/2 hours (of solid kitchen work by ME) to prepare the meal and another hour to clean up the huge amount of dishes and pans I used, so I won't be doing this often, despite the compliments. Mostly the recipes were simple, it was just co-ordinating timing and so on that was tough. The food was good, although a bit salty. The Orange Chicken was a bit of a disappointment (only to me) because I didn't like it nearly as well as I do restaurant Orange Chicken. I might have to look for a different recipe and try again. Anyway, a fun cooking and eating evening!

I changed the original recipe up to suit my flavor. ASo this is mine. Patti's might be a little different. 1 can chicken broth or use your own 1Tbl olive oil 2 boneless chicken breast, chopped **** OR Use WalMarts,rotisserie, and use breast only shredded. 1/4 cup or more chopped onion 1 4 oz can green chiles, chopped ***I puree mine with my hand blender WITH juice 1 19 oz can navy beans, undrained 1 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp cilantro ***I use instead 2 tsp chili powder 1/2 tsp oregano 1/8 tsp red pepper Sauce chicken and onions 4-5 minutes in olive oil **If using Wal Marts cooked, saute onions only till translucent Stir in spices, broth, simmer about 15 minutes, then add beans and shredded chicken and simmer 5 more minutes, to get the flavors blended. We love it topped with fritos, shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream

no leftovers here --- we had gone to BIL's for Thanksgiving and took nothing home except desserts (DH loved them!) Just got up from the table where we had filet of flounder, rice pilaf, fresh green beans, and for dessert, DH had pumpkin cheesecake!

We're going to Chili's tonight..because 100% of their profits today/tonight will go to St. Judes!!! Won't know what I'm having until we get there! lol

We are having cabbage rolls and my husband wanted pasta so I made him a side dish of pasta......

Glenda..that's not fair...

Yesterday hubby and I went out to breakfast..we said we'd like the special..it came not as the board described...grrr...it was good..but again..not what it was supposed to be.

Tonight is pork sandwiches and chips...crock pot cooked the pork shoulder, and I "crisped" it in the oven when I got home.
