What happened to KT Cooks thread??

I just posted to it and now can't find it anywhere. I think Nodakgal started it.

I don't know what happened to it, but I am so mad...

I've mentioned this before, but I'm going to mention it again. I am a slow typist. I spent a long time replying to Connie's original post. I told about all the cookbooks I had and got rid of and told about getting rid of my gooseberry patch cookbooks right now. I told about my Southern Living annual cookbooks and about a little plastic thing I keep inside my cabinet door in the kitchen. I also told Connie that I keep a recipe she posted in that plastic thing.
Then I took a couple of pictures of the plastic thing, put them on Photobucket, then posted them here. I also posted the recipe of Connie's that I use a lot. At the time she posted it, she said she had not tried it. My dh loves it.

After all that slow typing, just as I finished the recipe I started telling about cooking mine in a Nesco Roaster instead of in the oven. I was looking at the keyboard and looked up to preview the message and I saw where my computer was doing some kind of update. It said it needed to shut down and restart. I tried to copy the message, but the little update screen wouldn't let me. Once my computer restarted, I retyped my message, reposted the pictures and retyped the recipe. I was able to post it. Whew!!!, but now it's gone again. Welp, guess what, y'all are going to just have to always wonder what that litle plastic thingie is on the cabinet door that I like so much and Connie's recipe will always be a mystery to you, because I refuse to go through all that stress again. :)

I was looking for reviews of washers and dryers when I needed to buy a new one. Google found the Laundry Forum. I don't think I even joined at that time - I just read what I needed and left for probably a few years. Then when I decided to remodel my kitchen I kind of remembered GW That Home Site had kitchen stuff too so I came back. Then I joined and became totally immersed in the Kitchen site for about two years. Once I was done with that project I drifted around to Cooking and some other places. Someone else from Kitchens who was done with their kitchen suggested KT. I checked in here for a while but didn't find I had much in common with most folks since a lot of people seemed to be retired. I probably still don't have all that much in common with a lot of people here but I now check in daily to see if there's anything going on that's at all relevant to me.

I'd bring my rich shortbread cookies, crispy peanut butter cookies, and coconut macaroons. Those are my favorite to make... and eat. See how I twisted it there? Just being lighthearted. It really shouldn't be so staid as to have rules. It's the kind of place for fuzzy slippers and kicked up feet on the coffee table. Sit back, relax, and regale me. I'll serve you up some coffee or a glass of wine, depending on the time of day.

Here is the latest installment of Daughter-san's travel-food blog. I must remonstrate with her to address the dwindling food content. https://katemakesthings.wordpress.com She cooked mussels in Marseille for the first time, and later asked me what interesting things can you do with this shellfish. I didn't know, since my main goal with mussels is to inhale them in great quantity and not let anyone else get any. Any suggestions, you might post on her blog, as we'll be in Marseille for Christmas and could try them. Okay, I'm starting to cook. SWMBO has made two pies and cleaned the house. I have to make a red wine-shallot-balsamic-mushroom reduction, roast a leg of lamb, make a honey glaze and do the ham, then make brussel sprouts with candied walnuts, those are my only jobs for the day. Hopefully I do them well, because SWMBO has been very upset with me. I have been buried in a neighborhood activism project. We are trying to get my neighborhood, Laurelhurst in Portland, listed as a Historic District. I have been writing a website, preparing flyers, setting up an online petition, building a database of houses and neighbors, linking that to an online map to track supporters and opponents, organizing teams of volunteers to canvass door-to-door around their homes, preparing lists of houses to contact and to avoid, beginning fundraising, and generally working a 30 hour/week unpaid job on top of my day job. Which is why I'm not posting so much here, and if you listen to SWMBO - and I would encourage that you don't - completely failing to pull my weight around the house. I've decided that there's been enough sitting around and bemoaning things without doing anything to change them. At all levels, from national to local. I've been encouraging all my friends to pick a cause and get to work.

@Carl Arnold, welcome to the cooking forum! And if you really are a person trying to join in, and not trying to drive traffic to some outside website (why I mentioned no link, but sometimes there's a post that's sort of on topic, and the link comes later), you really are very welcome. As Sherry said, we have problems with bots. Your post was overwritten—very beautifully—for this kind of message board. Your follow up was more normal in tone, but unfortunately the new AI is capable of it all. That said, while we do run to older females in traditional families, we try not to exclude our younger, male, non-binary, non-traditional, unique and diverse posters, and it's right to call us out when we fail in that. Your point about cooking roles being more dependent on individual skills than gender is on topic, and an important POV, no matter how many of us have experienced the calcified classic gender roles in the title of the post. I bought a little table top barbecue last year, and have a littler freestanding one that's cute, but harder to use, and generally too small. I'm not really into outdoor cooking, and don't live in a climate where it's necessary. My little barbecues make my menfolk snicker. They have big and bigger gas grills to cook on...but really only for outdoor parties. I don't get the point (it not being an outdoor kitchen for all cooking in too hot and humid for indoors weather). I think barbecues should burn charcoal and aromatic wood chips to be worth the bother. I use a chimney starter. Barbecues are bad for the air quality, however, so mine are minimally used. The ”outdoors” cooking for us is not a gender thing determined by cultural norms, just a combination of attitudes and druthers that fall that way, informed by weather and circumstance.

Well, I did get to read Linda's post and saw the picture of the recipe hanger thing (never saw one of those before!). Hope the post comes back up soon!

whispering... I use magnetic photo albums for my recipes - easy to put recipes in and easy to clean for messy cooks like me!

mscsippy (Linda), you collect Southern Living Annual Recipe books, too? I have 1997 through 2002. Still love looking through them. Which ones do you have? I had to quit--too many books of all kinds.

Patti, I have 1979 to 2000. I got double billed in 2000 and it never got resolved to my satisfaction, so I stopped ordering them. They are wonderful books though.
