I searched here, but couldn't see where it was mentioned. She posted on another forum that he passed away, very suddenly, last night.

Caring prayers going out to her, and to Anna.

For those of you who have lost a spouse to any kind of cancer, there is a forum group called FACING AHEAD which I have found helpful, in addition to participating in a grief therapy group, reading numerous books about how to deal with the loss of a loved one, etc., staying busy, etc. Yes, it is terribly hard and I 'wouldn't wish this pain on my worst enemy' - but there it is and I know he would want me to go on living and not 'fall apart' s0 that is what I am trying very hard to do. I keep a sort of journal which is basically written specifically to him just telling him what is going on around me. He was my soul mate and just the right person to come along in my life at the time (we would have been married 29 years next week). I don't understand why I couldn't have had him in my life longer but maybe it is not for me to 'understand' but to simply 'accept' that part of my life is complete and it is time for me to move on, even though I don't want to move on without him. My father died in September, 2006. He had lung cancer, went into remission, then suffered a stroke, and continually weakened. On Labor Day, 2006, he was admitted to the hospital for tests, which revealed that the cancer had returned and there was nothing else to be done. He died at a hospice on September 16th. He never complained, except when he said he knew he wouldn't be going home again and that he didn't want to be alone (we vowed he would never be alone and kept true to that promise.) After the funeral I stayed with Mama to help her with all of the things that needed to be done. The first night I slept in Daddy's bed. I was in a deep sleep and felt the mattress on the side of the bed "give," as if someone was sitting by me. It was so real to me, and didn't scare me, because I felt his presence. Fast forward to last week. Mama came to visit us for the week and we were sitting outside on the patio, talking about Daddy, when all of a sudden, we saw a shooting star. Perhaps we read too much into signs like these, perhaps not. All I know is it gives us such peace, and that's all that matters.

I think Kathsgrdn has hit it on the head. One of my grandfathers worked until he was 85...yikes....he had retired at 65 but when his company called him back to see if he was interested in working, once again, he jumped at the opportunity. He worked until 85 when they found him in the washroom stall, at work, dead. He just loved what he was doing so much, I'm sure that's what kept him alive.

Many thanks to each and every one of you for your kind thoughts and prayers. Bob has been in bad health for a long time, but his death caught us off guard. I'm just grateful it happened fast for him.
I would have replied sooner, but I didn't even know there was a post about it here til a few minutes ago. Thank you Phyllis for letting everyone know.
