I'm the new guy

Greetings & Halucinations!

Yes, I'm the "newguy" I ask but one thing of the KT membership...please be gentle with me until I'm "broke in".

I was encouraged to sign up by the likes of dirtyfingernails and dotmom. I have had a few chances to read some KT posts and was very intrigued so...here I is!!!

In the past I have answered to Harley Worthit and Radio Guy With No Pants, to name a few.

Please help yourself to the delicious box of chocolates...

Warm regards

Radiodokkkter

Hello, hello, from Virginia.

Radio dokkkter, huh? Well I have this little radio that squeaks and squawks. Can you fix it, please?

Thanks for the chocolates; my supply is running low.

Hi Dani, and welcome! I'm in SE WI, just west of Sturtevant (west of Racine.) Where are you located, if you don't mind my asking? I've been viewing this forum for a couple of years now, but still consider myself an on-going learner, since so many people here know so much more than I do, esp. concerning hybridizing. There's no end to this addiction. I've told myself many times, I'm buying NO MORE new DLs unless I replace some old ones. Ha! That never works, because the people here keep posting more and more beautiful pics, and I say, "I HAVE TO HAVE THAT ONE!" So, I have no choice but to dig up more sod! (less grass to mow, more DLs to enjoy!) To post a photo here, you need to first upload your photos to a free image hosting site. Many people here use Photobucket, as I do. You can then post your pictures from that site to the GW forums. Let us know if you want help setting that up. I have a wish list with several hundred varieties, that I havbe to narrow down to 50, plus I have some seeds coming from the lily auction, that I have no idea where I'm going to put! Enjoy your addiction, and I assure you all of us here will enable you:))) Julie

Bad news...he cancelled! I'm hoping for a reschedule soon! I was so excited to see what he has in store for Flyod Cove. I did have the opportunity to see what is coming up in the fall Ahs publication & looks very exciting! I'll get back to you all when he does reschedule. Good news...I have a scape coming up!! Woohoo! Was out watering this morning & literally screamed out loud when I saw it! I was over at one of the most incredible local dl society member's house last nite & she has a scape too! Blooms in November is nuts! I'll post pics when they bloom.

I with most of you, I don't like using the microwave to reheat anything or to cook anything except to boil water or to use it for the steam bag veggies - I use my oven and slowly bring the re-heated food to a good temp in an oven that isn't too hot - about 275 - 300 - that seems to work best trying to re-heat it in a hot oven too quickly tends to ruin the leftovers. I don't own a toaster oven so I don't know anything about re-heating with that. Learning to cook for two (or one) isn't really that complicated with a little practice. When I buy raw meat, I seal it with my seal a meal into servings for two and put it into my freezer, I can just grab and use then. I would never eat leftover quiche though. There are some things that simply aren't meant to be reheated and a quiche would certainly fall into that catagory I would think. I just made a big pot of chicken and sausage gumbo. Now THAT will freeze up into portions for two just beautifully - all I have to do is make enough rice for the two of us, have some crusty, hot french bread and that's the easiest and fastest meal I can think of. I'll make up a lasagna and divide it into portions for the two of us to freeze, same thing with spaghetti sauce. That and a good mixed green salad and it's a meal. There are lots of things you can do ahead of time for fast and easy work night meals - You have to experiment to discover what works for you to w reheat or freeze before cooking well. I'm with the others, I can't imagine eating out every day, that is beyond me. It would be terribly expensive - with practice you can learn to cook for one or two and it would be very inexpensive after you learn how to shop and cook that way, it simply takes experimenting. We go out for a really nice dinner once a week, and on the very rare occasion, we go out for breakfast. Neither of us like fast food at all so that isn't even an issue.

There is also an appliance forum in addition to the laundry forum. Most pro welding shops can weld aluminum. Whatever you do, do not discard the broken pieces. It might be possible to make a functional equivalent of the hinge.

Welcome Radio Dokktor. I am new here too and have found that they are not such a scarey bunch. I buy your theory about low calorie chocolate. I have always used that idea when kids come to the door selling chocolate. Fund-raising chocolate has no fat, no calories in my book. Beth

Wow! So may warm welcomes!!! I have brought another box of "chilled chocolates...help yourself!

I'll try to answer some of your questions...

The Radio Guy With No Pants story...A few Superbowls ago the infamous "wardrobe malfuntion" occured. The country kind of freaked out and the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) went on the warpath. An agent from the FCC paid the company I work for (I'm in radio) a visit to inform us of what we could and could say on air, When he finished he asked if any of the announcers had any questions. Being the occasional smart a** I am I inquired if I did my show with no pants would that considered a wardrobe malfunction and would I be subject to a fine. He didn't appreciate my humor but the rest of the on air staff did.

To Sue_va...Your radio is malfuntioning. Try using a precision sledge hammer. It's known as destructive maintenence.

To alisande...I'm not a ham radio operator. But I love ham sandwiches. I believe there's a character by the name of alisande in Conneticutt Yankee In King Arthurs Court by Mark Twain.

To phyllis_mn...Yes married to dirtyfingernails. She's really purty too!!!!

To samkaren...Yes, I'm in radio in Minnesota. Been doing that for 17 years. The company I work for has 15 stations in MN...6 of them here in Brainerd/axter, MN. I do stuff for all the stations but my show is the afternoon drive on a Oldies station (mostly 60's, some 50's and 70's). You can check out our website at: cool1035.com

Thanks everyone!!!!!
