I can't think at the moment of a situation where some agency went much above what one would expect, certainly nothing as far as your truck repair place did.

The "shroud" isn't, in this instance, a piece of cloth that they wrap one in following death.

It's a square housing just behind and fastened to the radiator, that changes to a round hole into which the fan fits, which increases the efficiency of the fan.

Sounds like you've got a great dealership/garage like I do.
I was having trouble a couple years ago with the gas overflowing if I squeezed the nozzle more than a trickle. (10 yr old car)

They took the tank etc all apart and thought they had the problem licked. I brought it home, and it did it again when I tried to put gas in.
Long story short, they kept the car for days till they got the problem fixed once and for all. I didn't have to pay ANY labour charges, and they gave me a loaner. They hadn't seen this kind of problem and it intrigued them till they got it licked.
I think the mechanical problem was covered as well, because the only thing I had to pay for, was $20 for gas that they put in the car to test it with.

We still rave about the company who put on our new roof a few years ago. They had one full-time ground man who did nothing but deliver shingles up the ladders...and pick up debris all day long! We had just put in some new landscaping, including fragile annuals and perennials and not one single leaf was harmed. They did not shout to each other over the sound of the pneumatic equipment. They parked their big truck in the driveway and put big sheets of cardboard under it in case it leaked. They did not play a radio. They kept their shirts on, even though it was summer. They were polite and well spoken. They were extremely efficient and speedy.

The whole time, the yard remained as neat as a pin and before they left, a couple of them went over the whole area with magnetic sweepers. We never found any roofing nails. They even cleaned the gutters of nails.

We supplied them with a cooler of water and soft drinks and they were so appreciative. Doesn't everybody do that?

A couple of days after the job was finished, the general manager came out to inspect the job...climbing the roof and looking at the detail work. Only then did we get the bill. We sent a glowing letter to them regarding this team of workers and have recommended them to everyone who stopped to comment on how pretty our new roof looked.

Our city has its own electrical power generating company which began in 1898.

To date they have only had two city wide power outages, one lasting 11 hours and the second one about 5 hours, both of which occurred back in the late 50's and early 60's.

Last fall there was an automobile accident that knocked a pole over, shorting out one of their main lines which resulted in blowing a transformer on our street.

As a result, we were without electric for a total of 3hrs and 11min.

Two weeks later when we received our electric bill their was an appology letter for the loss of service to our house and they gave us a $15 credit.

Now keep in mind that just within the last 4 months we have had two tornadoes, some damage from the earthquake that hit Virginia, and a hurricane, not to mention severe flooding.

Mind you--I'm quick to complain--effectively--when something's not right, but I like to balance the scales and give credit where credit is due, as well. One day next week, I plan to take something (breakfast or lunch?) over to the auto shop to thank them.

Rhizo--you reminded me about the guys who installed our new windows last year. They, too, were wonderful. And when they were done, they cleaned every square inch of glass and frame so that it gleamed.

We were at the Bulk Barn yesterday and I stopped by the bin of Halloween Kisses and commented that I haven't seen them in years. The "clerk" chatted with me and handed me a kiss out of the bin. I looked at her and she said that She's the owner, and she can give me a candy, but that I couldn't take one myself.

I ate it and it was delicious, so soft and tasted really good.
I did my shopping (boy walnuts are expensive!!! and Pecans!!)

I saw here again and commented how nice and friendly she is and I enjoy shopping at her store. As we were leaving, she said, See you next week!

Hubby commented that there must be a $3 coupon in this week's paper, and sure enough, it was in today's paper.

I called her and told her how I enjoyed talking with her yesterday and that I wish I waited till this week to buy the walnuts because of the coupon. She did say that nuts are expensive and said I didn't want to know how much it costs her to bring in a bin of pecans to sell! Anyway, it's a great store and the service is top-notch. (She also told me to go online and print more coupons off if I need them)

My plumber. We needed a major sewer line repair and installation of a clean-out. It entailed tearing out the entire front porch. The replacement porch was simply awful, like monkeys on crack did it. We had him to our house to install a gas line for my new range. He installed the line and then stayed to help my DH place the oven even though it wasn't part of the job. Extra hour at least. Moving leveling and moving again. Then we told him about the porch. Never blinked said he's make it right. No defensive, no excuses. I will make it right. The next day he was out there directing a crew to tear out the whole thing and re-pour. Looks great. He bills our credit card to our convenience so everything he does is interest free. if he is getting ready to put a new charge on he always calls first even though we pre-authorized the date. He wants to make sure it's a good time. Recently we had an emergency at the rental again. he came out and fixed it within hours. Haven't got a bill yet. We called and he said he's wait until our last installment was done on the last major job.

My vet. I have spent extra hours at his practice without additional charge. He teaches me. Takes me back into the hospital and shows me. When I went deaf this month and had to take my dog in I mention I was taking large amounts of Preds and was concerned. He immediately pulled out paper and pen and explained how and what preds do, gave an entire clinical lesson on the way they work with the body, the immuneology system and how it would affect a canine since he can't give people advice. I went away with a clear understanding and what to watch for. That lengthened my appointment by a good 25 minutes. No charge.

Another time I took the dog in for a specific test. (he's diabetic). I went in back to calibrate my monitor with theirs. While there we drew some blood. The vet asked if he could run some other tests since we were doing blood work anyway. I thought cah-ching but figured it would be good to know the results. Those tests would easily have run a few hundred or more extra. When I went to pay the bill it was no charge for the visit or the additional tests. Just the lab fee for the original test. He calls me at home to check on my pets whenever they are ill or have a procedure. Even relatively minor ones. I can call the clinic anytime and know they will call back.

He's retired but we had a great brake guy. That was his specialty but he never ever put the car on the rack without giving it a thorough look see. Gave us advice, ordered parts for us, told us how to fix it ourselves with no profit for him. If I was driving and something seemed off all I had to was pull in and he'd assist. Miss him.

Today at a Holiday Inn Express out of town. I plan to stay there for an event next year. Stopped by and explained my needs due to my newly deafened state. I am getting an upgrade to a room meeting my needs at the same special rate the group has for standard. The young women at the desk worked with me, will see the room is in an area that meets my needs and never once showed impatience with the difficulty of communicating with me. Took the time, was pleasant throughout and didn't make me feel rushed even though there was a line. Put it all in writing then confirmed the room, the rate etc. A wonderful pleasant transaction from start to finish.

We installed new Delta faucets when we DH redid our plumbing in our house. A year later the one in the kitchen started spitting out little black pieces of something when we used the hot water side of the faucet. Then it would happen in the cold water side at times. We called the 1-800 number and the person had DH go through a few steps to determine what piece might be flaking off the balck stuff. They ended up sending us a new faucet - complete item. Now a year later it is happening again. They had DH go bck through the steps and they think its the flex wand in the faucet head. They are sending us a new flex piece. The faucet is guarenteed for life so we may have to go through this each year but at least they are agreeing to try tofix it. They say they aren't having other people with the same issues so it might be that our water is just that hot with the plumbing going through the attic area. However, it is just happening in that one faucet not the many others we have in the house.

I just remembered. I bought a President's Choice Food Processor a few years ago. Presidents Choice is a store brand of Loblaws a large Canadian grocery store.

The processor was a couple years old when the center washer that holds the shredding blade on the stem in the bowl came apart. The shredder blade was useless.

I called the 1-800 number, explained it to the girl and she said they would send a new blade out. I asked if they wanted the old one as proof, they didn't. She didn't ask for my receipt, date of purchase or anything. (It wasn't covered under warranty). Sure enough 2 days later, I had a courier package delivered.

I am on my third Kelty tent now.

My first one just plain wore out.

But prior to wearing out, while I was on a bicycle camping tour, one of the poles broke. I asked for the 800 number from home (knew just where it was) and called them. Usually they want the broken part to replace it. Well, the lady understood that I could not part with it, that I made a temporary fix with it, and asked me where to mail a replacement part. I got it while still out bike touring.

Then, I got the new tent. The zipper broke. I mailed the tent in, and they sent me a whole new tent, but minus the tent poles. This is, why I am on tent number three from them. They have excellent customer service.

I also had an issue with the sleeping mat I used on last summers bike tour. It also got replaced. The was/is a Big Agnes insulated aircore sleeping mat. They sent me a new one, after they inspected the old one, which of course, I had sent in.

Both companies are awesome, as far as customer service goes.

We've also had good experiences with Delta faucets. Our bathroom sink tap started to drip. DH emailed them and within a few days we had the parts we needed plus extras! When DH installed our new kitchen faucet, it was a little different from others we've had, and he was having trouble installing it. He called Delta and a very friendly woman spent a 1/2 hour on the phone talking him through it. It really saved us a lot of stress!
