Mom and I went to an Herb Fair that a favorite Garden Nursery hosts every year. Lots of vendors, wonderful crafts and primitives (not quite my style but I enjoy looking - esp. the holiday crafts) but prices were a bit high. I came home with a jar of honey and a big bunch of Sweet Annie, a very fragrant herb. Mom bought one too, and with two of them in the car on the way home I about had a headache.

The sky was cloudy with intermittent sun, threatened to rain the last couple of hours we were there and while eating lunch under the tent; but it didn't let loose until after I had dropped Mom off at her house and I finally was able to come home and make a cup of coffee.

I had such a nice day with DIL and 2 grandsons. The historical society in the tiny next town over sponsored a fall festival. It was very small but the day was warm and sunny. The boys each got to paint a pumpkin ($1 each) and we made a full size scare crow for $1. Clothes, straw, string, wood frame all provided. A few crafts for sale. Alpacas on display. Chain saw carver. Tiny museum. A ventriloquist. A folk/country band that the boys willingly sat for. Just a lovely, stress free day.

I got up kind of early today, earlier than I normally would on a day off. We were supposed to go to the movies and then to buy some rice and other things at an oriental market. But, I'm the only one who got up so I went by myself. I saw The Help and then went shopping. The rice was for our Korean exchange student who was wanting to make us dinner. She's doing that right now. I also went out to a farm in Versailles to get peaches and even though they had "apples and peaches" on their sign at the front of the driveway, they were out of peaches. I kept waiting and waiting to go...now I'm too late. If I knew where this one stand was that I went to last year I would go there. They had the best peaches I'd had since I lived in Arizona, next to a neighbor with their own trees. I guess it was a nice drive anyway, out in the KY Bluegrass and all those pretty farms.

I'm holding down the fort waiting to hear from Bigbaby. Our daughter went into labor about mid morning. I did bake a chocalate cheesecake to take to a potluck this evening.

It was a GREAT day so far here too. Went for an early morning bike ride with friends. Then helped out at the early packet pick up for the bike ride tomorrow, that our bike club sponsors. Also dropped off the pile of cookies I had baked for the event.

Then visited with DD number one. Gave myself my allergy shot while there (always do it there...) and came home.

Need a shower, and chill for the rest of the afternoon, as I have to be back there by 5:30 AM.

I hope all goes well Ron with the new Grand baby. Be sure and let us all know when it arrives. There are a lot of festivals going on in our area too. We don't go any more. I think there are some each weekend for a few more weeks. This week is the Pork Festival, next week is Frankton Heritage Days. Then some time later is Atlanta's New Earth Festival and James Dean Days. Elwood had the Glass Festival not long ago. I just seldom watch television in the daytime. I would not get anything done if I did :) It sounds like most of you have had a good weekend doing something fun.

I went to the store and bought one of favorite rotisserie chickens.

Also went to the video store to return a couple of movies and came home with 5 more..3 I bought on sale. The two I rented I watched this afternoon and enjoyed them so much. One was Georgia O'Keefe, the other Grey Gardens about Jackie O's eccentric but charming relatives. Both shows made for TV, but without cable, I'd never seen them. Great performances!

Went to the Doctor Thur, then to a casino for a day or so. On the way home, did think of you as there were so many garage sales, mini flea markets, and so much else. We were running late so did not stop, but then I really can't put anymore in my house. Love to go, but only end up giving it away.
OH yes, If I do run into any church cookbooks do you want any?

I was invited to the dedication ceremony of the United 93 Memorial but could not convince myself to go. I've been one bundle of raw emotion for the past week so thought it best to stay away.

Hubby knows how fragile I become at this time of year so we headed to a little town over the mountain and shopped for the day. I found a fall croc-print bag, a book or two and B&N, hit a great restaurant for a late lunch and then went to Sam's to stock up on a few things. Got home about 730 and just finished putting it all away. Great day.
