You need not worry about the taxes,,when you respond to that email they will tell you they either need you to send them some money to cover the legal fees, or they will ask you to send them your bank account number so they can send the money.

In the first scenario you send the money and never hear from them again,

In the second scenario you send your bank info and within a day or two your bank will respond to you, in the form of a long list of overdraft fees and a zero balance account.

We all get those stupid offers daily, hell, i have got as many as 7 in one day,,,

What action should you take?

Don't tell me that you haven't received offers from scrofulous, purported bank execs, mainly in Africa, but other places, too, telling of lost millions that they want to squirrel away in some foreign country, and they to follow, with you being offered about 40% for your cooperation!

I thought some time ago that the total of the two hundred or so that I've received must have built to a billion ... now I'm wondering whether the amount supposedly to have been assigned to me must have grown to near a billion!

If you want to talk real tax problems, figure this.

The IRS wants to hear from all U.S. citizens resident abroad regarding assets (not including house, I heard on our national radio the other day) over $10,000.

Deadline to reply was a week or so ago, in which case I hear that they wanted a modest amount of the boodle ... and if you hadn't replied by then and they found you later, their demands would be substantial.

I called my Member of Parliament's office regarding my ex-'s situation, who'd never earned dollar one in the U.S. subsequent to her university days. After her graduation, she travelled to Korea to marry me, spent four years there, then several in Canada with me living on my single income.

When our kids were in school, she qualified for a profession and worked as second head, later head of food service in a substantial psych. hospital ... took early retirement when there was talk of closing hers or one in a nearby city, enjoyed retirement for about 10 years, during which she visited the U.S., Florida to Texas, for a couple of months during most winters.

Then, really ironically, as she'd fed millions ... got colon cancer ... and died at age 66.

So I told the M.P.'s office that I guess that she was lucky, being out of the picture, now ... and they replied that they didn't know how the rules affected estates.

Daughter has moved to the States ... but son, born in Korea and having lived here throughout life, is affected.

The rule has been in effect for many years, the radio said (the M.P.'s office said since 1913 - which was before World War I started for European countries in 1914, let along the U.S. in 1917), but hadn't been pursued substantially, it appears.

Looks like U.S. citizens everywhere are going to have to join their counterparts resident at home to help pay off those huge debts.

To provide welfare for banks "too big to fail", right?

And whose execs received bonuses, rather than being fired for almost running their companies into the ground, following the bailout!

My friend shared a million dollar lottery with three people.She had a real tax man do her earnings for twenty years.This year the USA put a stop to her checking and saveing accounts and she can't take any money out but $ 2500.Said she did not pay enough.When she won the money they taxed her and each year they taxed her and now she is about to lose everything.Beware of those lotteries.Everything that looks good and free in the end you will wish you never laid eyes on them.Ask anyone who has won the lottery after twenty years 'is your life better?

I am no tax expert, but I believe you only have to pay tax the year you RECEIVE the MONEY.

I have to take back everthing I said about the tax people.My friend because she was 80 and on the kidneymachine she thought she would not last long and stop paying the tax on her lottery winnings.But God would have it she is still livingand you know if you have any large sum of money you are going topay taxes until you die. sorry internal revenue I'm still glad I live in America.
