Thanks to you gals for directing me in changing my member name, email addy & filled out my profile.. Ready to roll and enjoy getting re-acquainted with y'all (oops..guess I still have some FL in my talk..tee hee) and getting to know a whole table full of KT'ers!

Glad to have you back in the state. Where in NE PA are you? We have a second home in Milford, Pike County and visit regularly. I think Alisande is in Wayne, and mare_wbpa is in Luzerne.

You moved in time for fall foliage.

They have to be dead for them to send them in and receive their money. Yes, they are paid $5 per tag, which for the poor locals, is a lot of money. As far as I know, they don't kill them, they collect the dead ones that litter the forest floor. The Monarchs are not flying around much in the forest. They only come down from the trees for a rare drink of water and then back up they go. I doubt if there is much "killing" going on. You can, however, check out Journey North, which posts the migration, both north and south. The migration is underway and latest reports reflect Monarchs are at the Red River, which borders northern Texas and southern Oklahoma. I live in central Oklahoma, so I can barely wait! Tagging is done gently and easily, and usually right when the butterfly ecloses. They rest until their wings are dry and they warm up enough to fly. This takes anywhere from 1 to several hours. The tiny little "dot" sticker tag is just gently applied to the outside of the upper wing. Even children are doing it at Monarch Waystations elementary schools. I plan to do it this summer myself. It's important information that Monarch Watch is gathering in regard to these migrating butterflies. It is a personal decision, but I don't mind helping out the hispanic population IN Mexico. I suspect I will oil it at least once; I should try it on the piece that won't be visible when the cabinet goes in today. Blackeyedpeas - knowing the gender of the baby before it's born is like knowing what your birthday gift is ahead of time. Ruins the surprise, which is almost the best part, IMO! Neither of my kids wanted to know in advance (and in "my day" it was not possible to know), and I suspect my next daughter will want a surprise package, too. So...I'll get there eventually. I made a lot of jewelry myself, the most popular ones were from stainless metal. I think this is the main appearance of the ring itself or any other jewelry and not the material from which it was created.

Hmmm...interesting conversation! I HATE that we have a TV, for many reasons. I only have it because I love my daughter and it's important to her. I've lived for years without a TV and never missed it. In our "smaller home" the public spaces of the home--living room and eat-in kitchen--is all one "great room," and we're planning to knock out a built in china hutch to make it even more so. Putting in the same flooring throughout and using the same color theme will make it a really nice, peaceful, inviting space (I hope). The thing I have never wanted is a TV to be the focus of the room. I only have one true wall in the LR. The outside wall next to the front door is a large picture window, which I love. The opposite wall is a kinda weird bump-out that slopes downward. It is made up of another window and the window A/C unit. There is no wall between LR and K, just the built in thing with a pass-through. The bottom cabinets currently serve as our pantry, so we can't completely block it off. The other wall, the only place a regular sized sofa will fit, is an actual wall. It separates the LR from the master BD, which we are making our library. Of course I want to make it a stunning accent wall (some day!), and I most definitely do not want Joy's 36" flat screen up there! :-) So, what to do? I have reached a compromise with DD. I'm buying her a new, much smaller TV with HD and other fancy things she wants. We're going to set it on something small but attractive (I'm thinking nice end table if the garage sale gods will bless me), and putting it in the corner betwixt the pantry and the bump out. I can live with this and so can Joy. :-) Caroline, I'm afraid I don't have a solution to your conundrum, given the parameters you've laid out. :-( Chris, try as I might, I can't see a deer in that picture anywhere! Haha, it's been my version of Where's Waldo? all afternoon, lol! :-)

Thanks for the Welcome Back! I lived in Largo FL for the past 14 yrs but after hubs passed, my kids felt it was time I moved back to my hometown...Laceyville, in Wyoming Co., just west of Scranton & north of Wilkes Barre. In fact, where Mare is from in Luzerne? I was a Supervisor for 5 years at the phone company's long distance division,,in Dallas-next to Luzerne!
I grew up for most of my years in this little burg, but did live in Middletown,NY for a couple years-in fact my brother still lives there.
I'm SO excited to see the Fall Foliage..haven't seen them in almost 15 years. I think I'll motor over to the PA Grand Canyon..in Wellsboro-it's the place to see the tree in the autumn. I must say-I'm sure NOT looking forward to cold winters here. It was 41 out on my porch the other AM & it's only 50 here now. Dare I say..I even wore my flannel PJ's to bed last night!

Welcome back. I lived in Dallas in the 60's. Loved that little town. I was born and raised in PA and have lived in the general southcentral region( Gettysburg-Lancaster)my whole life except for the few years in Dallas.

Dedtired - I read your post too quickly and thought you wrote that you live in SEPTA - I guess my Philly background is showing. I just checked - I'm 14 miles from City Hall in S. Jersey.
