Thanks for the Rizzoli & Isles recommendation!

I forget who recommended it (I think it was more than one person), but I ordered the first disc of the first season from Netflix and am enjoying it. This will probably be my last mailed disc from Netflix as I switched to streaming only. But I can see myself buying the first season, used.

I've read several of Tess Gerritson's books featuring Rizzoli & Isles. Found them a little too dark sometimes, and Maura Isles' character a little bland. I'm glad to see she has more personality in the TV series.

We love that show. it is one of my husbands faves along with the Closer and Damages.

Glad you're liking Rizzoli and Isles, Susan.

I'm going to be so sad when The Closer is over next summer. I hate to see it end, it is the best show on TV, IMO.

Thanks for those great picture, Niels. You are right on what you wrote, "fading to two-toned - almost white in hotter sunnier weather ...Flowers last about 2-3 days before they shatter - and petals fall." That's my problem with Scepter d'Isle in full sun at 80 to 100 degrees. We finally got down to 60 degrees in the morning, and Scepter looks pink instead of white. I will move my Scepter to partial shade - its bloom bleaches out to completely white and shatters in hot sun. Compare that to "Deep Purple" floribunda which retains its color and bloom lasts 10 days on the bush, and 5 days in the vase. Scepter d'Isle, like most Austins look magnificent in cool and wet weather below 70 degrees, but really faded out and scents go away in hot summer. I understand that your summer in Denmark is much cooler than my Chicagoland, right? The heat is here until after Labor Day, September 3, then I can say good-bye to fans, and look forward to better colors and better scents on Austins.

I've had Wife of Bath as an own-root band from Vintage since March of this year and it's still quite small, which is fine for the place I have it, but it bloomed after a short while and has never really stopped. It's been compared negatively to Pretty Jessica but, to my eyes, it's very pretty in its own way and I'm very happy to have it. I know that doesn't answer lavender_lass's question, but I just wanted to gush about this rose a little. Ingrid

Aisle width is always measured between the narrowest obstructions to your passing through a point. If that obstruction is a refrigerator handle or stove handle and your island countertop, you measure the narrowest distance between the two. That's the most restrictive point, and that is the minimum width under discussion. It does no good to have a 36" width from counter to counter, only to have a refrigerator stick out another 12" into that space. You have to measure between that refrigerator counter and the closest adjacent object, and there is no way in heck that 24" between a refrigerator and any adjacent counter will ever satisfy code or work well in a kitchen.

mamapinky0, would you like me to mail you some of the Japanese detergents? They are in individual single use packs, so it'll be pretty easy! The ones I have are Heyaboshi Top (the Japanese hang dry clothes, and due to the high humidity levels musty smells are a huge issue - the heyaboshi is supposed to help that) and Attack (that's a link to the Singapore site which is in English). We were in Japan for 3 weeks, and did our laundry twice with JP detergents. Unfortunately even though they claim that everything is good for both colors and whites some dark shirts faded terribly, which is why I'm not too keen on using them again. I guess in order to balance out the cold water only washes they have to have some really harsh ingredients in there. By the way detergent is incredibly, shockingly inexpensive there - a box of Attack (which is considered TOL, if I understand correctly) was like $2. Oh and the washers are bizarre, for example, they can be set up to reuse bath water (which the whole family has taken turns soaking in). We rented an apartment in Kyoto through airbnb and our washer was on the balcony!

I mentioned that I loved Rizzoli & Isles on a Closer thread. Funny because of that thread I started watching The Closer and enjoy it! lol The original thread was about Kyra's odd accent. I guess she's supposed to be from Atlanta?

Kacee- The Closer will be back for 5 more episodes starting in November and then the final 6 episodes run in the summer of '12. That is the end that I was referring to.

I like The Closer and Damages, too--especially The Closer. I have The Closer on DVD and watch Damages via Netflix streaming. My new (this year) TV still isn't hooked up to receive channels, and I figure there's no urgency. :-)

I did read that Kyra was not going to be on The Closer anymore that the other lady Captain is going to be taking over her roll. That will really change things up, I like Kyra so much. However there will be a new spin off from The Closer! called Major Crimes here is some info

Fortunately for the people who love The Closer, there are two bits of solace. One, the seventh season will be some 50 percent larger than usual, spreading 21 episodes across the coming summer (starting July 11), a brief winter stretch, and then wrapping things up in summer 2012.

Also, TNT is all set to serve up a spinoff Ã¯Â¿Â½ titled Major Crimes and starring Mary McDonnell as Capt. Sharon Raydor Ã¯Â¿Â½ the instant Brenda Leigh bids us adieu, invariably with a big Southern "Thank you!"

"IÃ¯Â¿Â½m really glad that theyÃ¯Â¿Â½re going to go on and do another show," Sedgwick says. "That really helps soften the blow."

And what is the theme for The CloserÃ¯Â¿Â½s closing run? "Love and Loss," Sedgwick reports, "which is appropriate. ItÃ¯Â¿Â½s exactly the way you want the character to go out."

Watched an episode yesterday due to this thread. I liked it! Thanks for the tip. I really like Rizzoli, can't remember her real name. But I loved her on Law and Order. (I know she's married to Jason Sehorn, though, lol(

I've started watching The Closer and it is a great show...I have several Rizzoli and Isles taped to watch but they'll wait till winter when I'm in snuggle up with tv mode! I can't wait for the network shows to come back next week!!

She has 3 little girls and I really like their names - finely Faith, Avery Grace, and Emily Hope.
