Vertigo
Comments (21)I had it and it's awful. Mine was caused by my high blood pressure pills. I really think the doctor was over medicating me. I've never had so many dizzy spells and trips to the ER as I've had for the past 2 years. I've been telling the doctor how lightheaded I get after taking those pills. So he stopped one and kept me on the other. Well, a little of the veritgo left but not completely, plus my ankles were still swelling up. Finally after have my heart started to race like crazy and my pressure over 210, I went back to ER. They admitted me and gave me a stress test, but they also checked my heart and kidneys. Everything came back good, even my blood work. Now the doctor on call started me on some kind of heart pill that will reduce my heart rate in case it started racing again. So far I'm just taking that pill plus my nexium and I will say I'm almost 98% better. No vertigo, no swelling, no feelings of passing out and no racing heart. I still feel a little panicky at times because I keep waiting for it to start happening again....See Moresomeone wrote to tell me what hubs used for vertigo,
Comments (4)Bonide is the most popular vertigo medication, but there's side-effects. Best to treat the problem: blocked tubes which mess up equilibrium. I never have vertigo before, until I got my flu-shot from Sam's club Dec. 19 ... flu shot is known to depress immune system, it protects you from 3 to 4 strains of virus, but your immune is less able to handle hundreds OTHER strains of cold/flu that mutate constantly. I caught a flu within a week of the shot !! My ear bled, then I got vertigo for one month !! Really bad that I couldn't drive. I used a glass dropper, filled with hydrogen peroxide and flush both ears. One ear popped, vertigo is completely gone on that side. The other ear is still jammed up, so I used 1/2 alcohol and 1/2 vinegar (alcohol to evaporates quickly and vinegar to dissolve solidified ear-wax, or dried blood). I had to flush my right ear 3 times before it improved. My husband has lots of wax build-up in his ears .. it got so bad that he got sick from it: lost his appetite, feeling tired & lethargic. He went to the doc. and the doc. flushed out the wax. After that my husband could hear better & no more tiredness !! You can tell when your ears are blocked (WebMD): , Swelling from a cold, allergies, or a sinus infection can keep the eustachian tubes from opening. This leads to pressure changes. Fluid may collect in the middle ear. The pressure and fluid can cause pain. Ears that hurt and feel full, or feel watery. Ringing or popping noises in your ears. Hearing problems. Feeling dizzy. " WebMD has a fantastic exercise to clear-out the Eustachian tubes, I tried it, and it WORKED: " You may be able to open the blocked tubes with a simple exercise. Close your mouth, hold your nose, and gently blow as if you are blowing your nose. Yawning and chewing gum also may help. You may hear or feel a "pop" when the tubes open to make the pressure equal between the inside and outside of your ears."...See MoreVertigo/Meniere's
Comments (17)My father-in-law came down with Meniere's disease. The cause is not known, but the affects and the affected nerve are known. He was a Minister of a church and was embarrassed at the local airport. He had gone to the airport to take a flight for church business when an attack hit him. He was arrested and put in the "drunk tank" until Security could sort out the derails. At the same time, his hearing began to fail. There wasn't much the doctors could do for him. One surgery was tried that did not work. His doctor told him the bad news is we can not do anything for it except to give you a procedures to help you through an attack; the good news is that as you go deaf, Meniere's disease will abate (which it did). This disease caused my FIL to retire 3 years earlier than planned. It upset his quality of life and short changed his retirement funds. However, his vertigo attacks did lessen as his hearing failed. When his hearing became quite bad, the attacks went away....See MoreAnyone with BPPV? (vertigo)
Comments (23)Yeah! And my primary sent me to a cardiologist! Lots of tests. They told me that I am getting old! Yuck! Yuck! Yuck? So, when I stand after sitting for a while (and my butt hurts thank you), I sorta hold on to the floor lamp before I take my steps (Io the potty or the dinner table), one has to be aware. Spend some time with your provider (note that I don't indicate physician, but a PA or NP can be just as smart) and listen. Do what is suggested and in 6 weeks, let us know. Growing old sux!!!!!!!...See Moreredcurls
