Comments (13)Yes I do get it and just had a very bad episode a few weeks ago. WE have Menieres disease in our family and it is a major cause of a lot of peoples vertigo so you may ask your doctor about that. What is Minieres disease? I have had very good luck when I have these episodes if I have the Epley maneuver and my doctors have taught my husband and myself how to do it at home now. I also at times have it done at the doctors. It is amazing how such a small thing as a manipulation of the head can quickly remedy the horrible vertigo. At some times I do get extremely nauseated and vomit so I always keep a special nausea medication from my doctor available. What Is the Epley Maneuver? Epley's maneuver video of the maneuver there are many youtube videos of this. It is absolutely worth asking your doctor to perform on you it can make the episodes end almost immediately....See MoreAny self treatment for vertigo problems?
Comments (4)my sil had (notice past tense) a serious case of it a couple of years ago, she took to carrying a cup around in public because it made her so nauseated so quickly... she had it for almost a year... the nurse at her doctors office said she had cured her own vertigo by taking zyrtec every day ..... so lucy took her advice and takes a zyrtec or claritin every single day and hasn't had an attack for almost 2 years now on the other hand dh developed labrynthitis 18 years ago, went by ambulance to the hospital in the middle of the night, and it has never completely gone away...struggles with it daily.......See MoreVertigo - does anyone here have it?
Comments (33)My father-in-law had Meniere's disease that caused him to retire a few years early from being a Minister of the Gospel. His specialist told him he had no cure for the condition, but since it seems to be associated with the inner ear, it will reduce with hearing loss, and that is what happened to him. One day when at an airport on his way to a convention, an attack struck him. The airport security was convinced that he was either drunk or high on something and locked him up in the drunk tank, and would not let him out until his wife came to pick him up. He was unable to convince them that he had a medical condition that was the cause. This episode made him consider retiring a few years early....See MoreVertigo/Meniere's
Comments (17)My father-in-law came down with Meniere's disease. The cause is not known, but the affects and the affected nerve are known. He was a Minister of a church and was embarrassed at the local airport. He had gone to the airport to take a flight for church business when an attack hit him. He was arrested and put in the "drunk tank" until Security could sort out the derails. At the same time, his hearing began to fail. There wasn't much the doctors could do for him. One surgery was tried that did not work. His doctor told him the bad news is we can not do anything for it except to give you a procedures to help you through an attack; the good news is that as you go deaf, Meniere's disease will abate (which it did). This disease caused my FIL to retire 3 years earlier than planned. It upset his quality of life and short changed his retirement funds. However, his vertigo attacks did lessen as his hearing failed. When his hearing became quite bad, the attacks went away....See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
