Sounds like this year you need a list of eight ideas -- isn't that hard to do. I can only think of things when I would be using them - otherwise I'm just blank!

I will. Last year they went together and bought me a really nice sewing table. The year we redid our kitchen they bought me my new red dishes and new silverware. One year a digital camera and another my webtv... We are not a family that just buys to be buying something. They all give me ideas, too. For one thing all 8 of the grandkids are getting a pillow pet this year. I already have them bought and tucked away.

My sweet DIL was always shy about giving me a list. She gave me one the first year with 3 small things. I finally got her in line with the others.. I love her like my own.. She wants a really good camera so this year she will get her gift in money to help purchase it. Need to keep sending grandma thoses sweet grandbaby pictures..

We like to have idea lists too. We usually try to put ideas that fit a variety of price ranges.

My mother usually buys me whatever new Stephen King book is out for my Birthday. He isn't as prolific as he used to be, and one year she accidentally bought me the same book as the year before.

She took it back to return it and got me something else later.

The next birthday, I unwrap a book and it is the same one AGAIN! We laughed, but she laughed harder. "I really DID give you that book again. This is the same one!". She had set it aside to return and forgot all about it. She came across it almost a year later and figured she must have picked it up somewhere on sale then just forgot she had bought it. So, she wrapped it up to give to me for my birthday.

That fry pan story is hilarious. It sounds like you have a fun family, Susie.

My funny Christmas story is I got a gag gift one year...The Thigh Master, so I rewrapped it and gave it another person the next year, and they did the same, disguising it so the package looked different, and gave it to another unsuspecting relative. That went on for about 8 yrs until the thing mysteriously dissapeared.

When we were getting ready to sell my Mom's house all of us kids were there helping. Mom had these roosters that had hung on her livingroom wall for as long as any of us could remember. After asking everyone if they wanted them they got tossed in the trash. Someone snuck them out of the trash and they reappeared at Christmas time as someones gift. From time to time they reappear. You never know when it will happen. It brings my Mom alive for all of us.

Then when my sister died she had these awful chair pads that my BIL always hated. Soon after Betty died he tossed them in the trash. His oldest son snuck them out of the trash, wrapped them up and gave them to him for Christmas. Everyone howled and I know my sister was laughing along with us, too.
