Actually I like gmail. I like that all replies are lumped together and replying to just one person is simple. Read their email and hit reply, can't get any easier than that.

That's what I did, and hope that only the one person got it.
But the original reply got lost in amongst the others, and I couldn't find it for a while. Why wouldn't they all come in individually, then have a thread going for replies back and forth to each perso

I use yahoo, too. I also use msn (cause it came with our ISP), but only the email, not the msn browser.

I do not like gmail and hardly ever use it.

It took a while, but I really like gmail now. Still use Yahoo for some stuff.

Outlook Express is my main email account. My Yahoo account is a backup account for me.

I use Thunderbird as my default email, and Yahoo for KT and some other sites.

I don't have a problem giving my TB addy to places like Amazon, etc.

I was thinking of just getting a Hotmail account. In the past, they were horrendous for spam. Has it improved?

My internet server is Rogers, and I haven't used my Rogers email account in 2 years. I check it once a week and I have over 500 emails....ALL Spam, and the vast majority of them want to increase my penis.
I have written to Rogers telling them why I will never use their email (they wanted to send my bill to my rogers email) and told them about the Spam, and that I don't HAVE a penis.
If it wasn't for this crap, I could have just used my rogers account.

I've had it for over 15 years, it's free, and I have found nothing more reliable.
Excellent spam blocker, and filters.
Lets me save my email either on their server or my PC, and have separate folders in both places.
Address book, and easy file attachment.

I have Yahoo and Hotmail and like them the same. I filter out all spams and just delete that whole junk mails easily. Had been with both of them for years and feeling ok to keep them both.

I've had AT&T forever, it works for me.

Although I prefer a POP/SMTP account, I had too much trouble with rudeness from newbies who would get broadband and start mailing 5, 10, even 15mb attachments and I have dialup. With the POP accounts I had, I couldn't do anything but download the garbage and if it got cut off, it would restart. Given that and those same people who would forward that garbage to everyone in their address books I got on too many spam lists so I had to change accounts every couple years. I got a Yahoo account and intended it as a temporary account it turns out I have used that as my main account ever since. Great spam filters and I use PopPeeper to quickly pickup and send mail without using the website. It also works great for a checker, although I use Messenger quite a bit lately so I use that for different accounts. And if I should change ISPs, that's no problem, it'll go with me.

Hotmail is more clumsy and much slower overall. Gmail is all right but I don't really have a need to use it. With the reliability of Yahoo, I haven't had need to use the account that comes with my ISP now.

I use gmail and I love it. I like that the "penis enlarging" emails go directly to spam...I don't have a penis either. LOL Also love the chat feature and that attachments don't have to be downloaded to be seen. You can also direct mail from one email address, even if it isn't a gmail address, to another email address. For instance...I absolutely hate the email service that we have affiliated with our website, so I direct the mail that goes to that account to a gmail account. When I receive, read and respond to an email, it shows it still coming from the company email address. THAT is cool!

I have gmail for primary and yahoo for secondary and third-dary. lol It took a bit to get used to the way that gmail bundles all the replies to an email, but if you click on "expand conversation" or something like that, it'll show them to you one at a time.

Asking for "the best" email account is like asking for the "best cell" phone service or ISP. Everyone is going to have their preferences based on need and ability to learn the system.

I like Fastmail.fm. It started out as a slick email account with no bells and whistles and the free accounts are still like that. No junk like IM chat or message board groups or user profiles posted. No distracting ads on the sidebar. Easy to use and great spam filters. Great customer support. When the big outage occurred in 2003 they gave all their paid subscribers three free months of service even though the email service being down, was not their fault due to technical error.

I like Mozilla Thunderbird, I think someone suggested it here and I've been using it now for a couple years.

I started with a single Yahoo address, and now have several addresses on Yahoo. They restrict me to 200 file folders, and as far as I know, I can't sub-head files.

Had one at AECCafe, an architectural and engineering site, back when they offered more storage than Yahoo.

Son likes gmail, got me started on them, also. Friends like it, because I'm on dial-up, so they can't call when I'm online, and often I'm doing other things so don't see their email that arrives on Yahoo ... I think that it would notify me if I were to use Instant Messenger.

Gmail has a little circle that sits down in the right corner of the screen, and when a new message arrives, a red "M" appears in it ...

... so my friends appreciate that if they want to get in touch quickly, they can do it.

My ISP, Porchlight, an agency that serves about half a dozen medium-sized cities in this area, offers one (up to 3?, I think) , as well ... but I seldom use it. A news service sends a message at least once daily, but I'm not much interested in them.

Yahoo separates the apparent spam, which they used to direct to a "Bulk" bin ... but they recently redesignated that area as "Spam". I don't feel that they're super good it blocking it.

I have received hundreds of offers to aggrandize my penis, some offering to have it done right quickly ... but haven't taken them up on any of their offers, thus far - don't feel the need.

I was a bit worried about one that claimed to be fast-acting ... figured that if I took their pill a bit too long (if you'll pardon the expression) ... I'd probably need a wheelbarrow to cart the organ around!

Anybody interested to help some employee of a bank somewhere in Africa (or Hong Kong, Netherlands, U.K., etc.) that knows of an account of several million owned by someone who, along with his entire family, died in a plane crash, which this person would like to set you up as a long-lost relative, or business partner, to collect the money (before the bank transfers it into it's unclaimed account file) ... for your trouble, he's offering you 40% or so, usually, and he'd like you to help him come to your country, so that he can invest the rest.

I've received over 150 or them at one address ... if I added up the total of my share, it'd surely come up to somewhere near half a billion.

That'd be a big problem ... I wouldn't have any idea of what to do with that much money!

I've used Outlook Express some in the past, but haven't been set up for it for a long time.

Have never tried Hotmail, or AOL, or MSN.

OJ, I don't get any of those kinds of Spam at all with Yahoo; only in my Rogers.com.

You can download a Yahoo toolbar (I have) and it has an envelope there that tells you when you have mail, when you're on another site. I like that feature a lot.
