For those of us who have lost someone.....

I got this over the weekend from a close friend. It's to help me through the loss of Mom.

It's beautiful and I want to share it with all of you who have also lost spouses, family members, close friends and even pets! why not?

I GIVE YOU THIS ONE THOUGHT TO KEEP

I AM WITH YOU STILL---DO NOT WEEP.

I AM A THOUSAND WINDS THAT BLOW

I AM THE DIAMOND GLINTS ON SNOW.

I AM THE SUNLIGHT ON RIPENED GRAIN

I AM THE GENTLE AUTUMN'S RAIN.

WHEN YOU AWAKEN IN THE MORNING'S HUSH

I AM THE SWIFT UPLIFTING RUSH

OF QUIET BIRDS IN CIRCLED FLIGHT

I AM THE SOFT STARS THAT SHINE AT NIGHT.

DO NOT THINK OF ME AS GONE-----

I AM WITH YOU STILL---IN EACH NEW DAWN.

A very touching clip. Yes, very wise; wiser than several of the people who commented it. If someone his age can hear God and trust that the truth is true, why do people who are much older (and who should be smarter) have so much trouble? New Year's Eve ok for everyone?

New Year's Eve was no problem of itself. We had none of our kids here so no celebration. We are both sick with colds so went to bed about 9:30. I was up before midnight and several more times because my head was all stuffy. Taking our daughter and her son to the airport yesterday and having lunch with another son and his fiance were both good times and hard to leave them. On the way home I started missing Aaron so badly I didn't think I could stand it. I cried a lot last night and this morning too. I do not feel good about a new year starting without Aaron. He died Nov. 24 and it seems such a short time for that to already be "last year". I know he is in heaven but my sadness is compounded by not being able to feel or "see" him anywhere. I can't visualize heaven or him meeting family and friends who have gone on before. We live in the house he built and I feel pleased with its beauty and quality and proud of the job he did. At the same time, it's very walls and windows make me think of him not being here. It sounds like you did a good job of taking care of yourself. I don't drink but at a time like this it would seem to be a good thing to be able to drown some of the feelings I have! Carol

I found a different version of this when my Dad passed away 9 yrs ago. I put it in a document and added a beautiful picture of a church as a background. When others saw it at work, I ended up printing out about a dozen that year. I laminated a copy and gave to my Mom. I put another one in a frame and laid it on Dad's stone. (Someone stole it. Yes, Virginia, grinches visit cemeteries too.) Shirley

Not sure if I posted this for you...it helps me get through the day.

My Life is but a weaving
between my Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colors
He worketh steadily.

Oft times He weaveth sorrow
And I, in foolish pride,
Forget He sees the upper,
And I the under side.

Not til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

He knows, He loves, He cares,
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives His very best to those
Who leave the choice with Him.

Both poems are beautiful poignant.There are several 'clubs' here. Those of you, who lost parents, the ones who lost spouses, the one I'm in, having lost a child and also the one for loss of friends and pets. It is a sad and painful club to belong to. (((((Hugs, going all who are hurting))))

Jasdip, there is a picture book called "Grieve Not" with that poem in it, slightly different. I bought it for myself when my own mother died in 2003. I imagine you are missing your dear mother a lot by now--hard to believe she is really gone. She will always be with you in your heart and "in the diamond glints on snow and in the thousand winds that blow."

It's a comforting poem.
