I work from home, and I was spending a week with Gary (who lived an 8 hour drive away from me). It was the day of my monthly one-on-one with my manager, which we were doing over the phone. Gary came in the room behind me and I reached my hands up over my shoulders to hold hands with him for a minute. He slipped the engagement ring on my finger!! I had to go on acting 'professional' on the phone, which was one of the most difficult things I've ever done :-) Poor Gary was disappointed that I didn't immediately tell my manager right on the spot. But he got over that and we are one of the happiest pairs of newlyweds ever (we were married almost 8 months ago). He's my best friend and one of the sweetest guys ever.

Everything. We had over 280 inches of snow last winter and there is not one thing about spring that I'm not happy to see! I love gardening, spring flowers, warm weather, being able to spend time outdoors, the smell and feel of dirt on my hands.... everything!

I've really enjoyed what the day is famous for. You've been terrific at sourcing that out!!! The QOTD has always been fun too. Enjoy your retirement Sandy! bottle of water, pen and pad of paper (I often think of something important just before falling asleep), books, vaseline for my lips, lamp. And often a cat who likes to knock the book and bottle of water off the table.

My family and my job. My employer is dumping a lot of employees to make budget cuts, starting with as many long-term employees as possible. I am glad I've been here only 8 years, it is a little safer for me. My BIL lost his job yesterday and he was here for 30 years. He may get hired in a much lower paying position so he can get in enough time to draw his pension. He needs 10 months. He took about 6 of those months off when his wife, my niece, was dying.

In spite of health issues, I wake up every morning with no pain. I can do pretty much anything I want, walk, eat, drive, etc. I have someone to love who loves me back.

I'm grateful that my daughter is strong enough to handle whatever happens with the hurricane! She & her family are preparing the house for, hopefully, no more than a foot of water. Sending Sandy good thoughts and wishing I were there now to help.
