Diamond Head - so difficult to get a good picture while in a seaplane!

On our recent trip to Maine we stayed with my wife's Uncle Dimitri in Camden, Maine. One evening I stayed up late talking with him hearing some of the fascinating stories from his past. His grandfather was the Prime Minister of Bulgaria for a period of 4 days. Subsequently his grandfather was a diplomat and I believe his father was as well. During one stretch when his family was living in Rome, Dimitri was in school there, and one of his classmates was Benito Mussolini's son. On one table in his house I found a gardening magazine that did a piece on a semi-tropical mimosa he was growing and how he converted an open patio to a greenhouse to protect it from the harsh Maine winters. The greenhouse was open for the summer when were there, the tree is still thriving, and interestingly the best view we had of the eclipse was due to the sunlight passing through the leaves of the mimosa tree casting little crescent-shaped spots of light on the wall of the house.

That's awesome, Jasdip! I've been feeling guilty every time I use a plastic utensil and have started carrying a set of plastic ware in my purse to use in restaurants that provide only plastic forks and spoons. Its good to see that alternatives are being developed.

Jasdip////Do YOU have that local's permission to post their photo? Please only post photo's YOU have taken or a family member has taken of say YOU. Otherwise it's just another photo taken off the internet.....and saying it's off the internet. NOT COOL! Here are the guidelines for posting on THIS thread: What goes on here? The guidelines are: these threads are to share photos *you've* taken. It is not about posting photos others have taken. Please don't just pull something off the internet and say "it's off the internet" or use your camera to take a photo of a photo on the internet. Not cool! Please know the source of your photo. If you did not take it then credit the photographer who gave YOU permission/family member/friend who did. Posting a picture you haven't taken should still be personal in some way, such as, my son took this picture on our vacation or husband took this photo of me. this is not a photography contest about the quality of the photo, so everyone is welcome from beginner to pro, whether using fancy equipment or a cell phone while there may be a theme for the day suggested by the initial photo, it is not necessary to follow that theme it is suggested that you put no more than 5 photos per post. One or two are optimal providing a caption isn't required, but it can be helpful for others viewing your picture these threads are meant to be a respite from the craziness in the world, so posts/topics that are potentially controversial, contentious or upsetting are discouraged By following these guidelines, it is hoped we can keep the atmosphere here pleasant and welcoming which will encourage us to share our experiences while enhancing our creativity and our ability to notice and appreciate the world around us and our fellow posters. Thank you for your participation and cooperation. Happy shooting!
