Haven't seen it. Actually haven't been to a movie in years.

For as many movies as George has made, I have seen very few. The Oceans series come to mind, after that not so much. I don't see the talent,only because what I have watched he talked very little. Good to hear this one is no different. When it does come out on video or TV (the only way I ever see a movie)I will pass.

I knew it wasn't good but DH had buds coming over for the football game, and I wanted to get out of the house. GC had so few lines and stood around with a blank look on his face most of the time. Honestly, I don't think he's much of an actor. But--the village and scenery shots of Italy were quite good. More important than being actor is GC's humanitarian work; it was wonderful to see him awarded at the recent Emmy's.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE George Clooney . He puts his money where his mouth is,. As you said, he does so much good in the world and is a genuine nice guy, I think. Also pretty darn handsome. His acting skills are getting better and some say he should be up for the Oscar for this. Well, it would be for his facial expressions because there were minutes in the movie where nothing was said. Always be aware of movies which don't have a screening before so people can review it. ..Now as a National Geographic special it was very good . The cinematography was lovely.

We saw it last night and I was disappointed too overall. Alot of street scenes that were boring. I guess it added to his character but seemed too much. I found the ending depressing. Guess I would call it a sad commentary on his character's life, and a sad ending to a love story.

Lily, lets agree to disagree, OK? His face always looked blank to me! The village scenes were lovely, but sometimes when the tiny lanes and stair cases were shown, there was absolutely no sound. In close quarters like that, you would hear noises of the people who live there. To me it seemed to be a movie for GC fans to enjoy the eye candy. IMHO!

I guess there will be a lot of people who will be disappointed. It was first in the box office this week..No one I talked to liked it, most hated it. Questions for you who saw it. He rigged the gun to blow up in her face, right? Why did he kill the woman in Sweden? Why did his boss put a hit on him? And why didn't the boss do it since he was there? And did Jack die at the end?

To answer your ?'s, ( hope no one is upset by telling most of the story). Yes he did rig the gun - he didn't trust the girl - he killed the girl in Sweden cause she would have to have been told of his past, of his job, etc. The boss put a hit out on him cause he knew that Clooney had broken the golden rule of never getting close to someone (his girl in Sweden) and that he was not following orders (he didn't go to the town where the boss told him to go, throw away the cell phone, etc). I think he would have killed him if Clooney hadn't first killed him(remember he got shot and yes, we are led to believe that he died).

When you really think about the story line - it really is quite heavy. He is torn between a life where you can't trust anyone and now he appears to be getting tired of it - remember he tells his boss he wants out after making the gun for the girl, another reason for the boss to do him in.

He becomes friends with the priest - as though he is looking for forgiveness - he apologizes to the priest when he shoots the girl - even though she was going to kill him. My hubby thinks that the girl wasn't to kill HIM at first but someone else then when he wants out, the boss tells her to kill him first.

It really is a story about someone who is conflicted with his life. He goes to just the one hooker - he wants a real relationship - not just the physical act. Thinking back - all the alone scenes and the silence adds to that inner conflict. The more I think about it, the more I'm liking it more. It's just not the typical Clooney movie.

But still I wonder since the boss was right there in the village, why didn't he shoot Jack like he eventually did when they exchanged gunfire?..It was a dark brooding artsy movie and it IS something to think about. But I don't like to think, I like to be entertained..lol

I may be one in a million...but I don't like George Clooney...

He gives me the impression that he likes himself enough I don't need to.

I get turned off by guys who think they are irresistible.

I probably wouldn't go to see the movie anyway...But I was thinking last night when previews were on tv that it looked like it would be a good movie (if it just starred someone other than....)

But I don't think I'll bother with it now.

I just went to see it a few hours ago. Loved it. I like movies that make one think. I'm not even a Clooney fan but he really did right by the role.

The scenery was awesome and I liked how anyone who saw the movie could come to their own conclusions as to the what and why of it all. Films that make you think are so refreshing after all the predictable "action" flicks.

There were only four of us in the theater. A man that was sitting behind me and I stood outside talking about the movie for almost an hour after. So much to absorb.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who does not like George Clooney. I don't think he's that good looking, just might not be my type tho. His mannerisms, especially the way he moves his head annoy me. Just not a fan and won't go to his movies, won't even watch one on TV if he's in it.

I've had days to mull over the movie, and I still think it stunk. It should play in an art theater . It was so incredibly boring for long stretches. Anyone expecting action, a comedy would give you more. There were about 30 seconds of action.

Well, I guess you can read into it if you want, or if you are just after the "eye candy" aspect, that works too! He probably was able to stay at his villa in Lake Como while they filmed. It isn't getting the best reviews, but it's doing pretty well at the box office.

I read he did stay at his lake Como house when they made this ,and if it's anything like the villages in the film, it is breathtaking. It is the number one movie in the country, but I have read a ton of negatives about it. I'm glad I wasn't the only person who didn't like it. But unlike another person wrote, no one in my theater actually booed at the end.
