Be thankful that you posses beautiful curls. One product you migh try is Brylcreem. Don't laugh too hard, but the slogan, "A little daub will do you" is very correct. It doesn't take much to calm the frizzys. Put too much on and you be greasing the chair backs.

I've been using it for years and have found nothing better. I use it to replenish the oils taken out from hair washing. here's my regimen. After shampooing, rinsing, anf towel jut emough to eliminate thr drips, I add a little Brykcreem and comb it in ot spread it throughout the hair and to comb my hair into place. After drying, the hair will tend to stay in place and a few curls will tighten and maybe flop into a new position to give you that carefree look. The hair will have a slight sheen. No more application is needed. Your natural oils take about two days to re-oil your hair.

Brylcreem is an old product and has disappeared off shelves in many locations partly from all the jokes made about it, and marketeers pushing pricier products. I found my latest supply at Walgreens.

Not sure, but I have the same problem. Everyone says I am so lucky to have these curls and waves (which I do like also) but when each side has a mind of it's own on what it would like to do, gets frustrating. I will keep watching this post and maybe I can also get some ideas. Good luck to you....

I have the same issues. Like Jemdandy, I use an old product. VO5 in the gold tube. Just a little bit; and it makes my dry course hair shiney and somewhat manageable. I've never tried straightening my hair; sounds like a chore!!!

Aren't we H. Beings a strange lot? We seem to want what we ain't got. Oh, hey, that rhymes. LOL. I have straight fine hair and wish it were curly or at least wavy. My late DDIL had the most beautiful curly red hair and she was always trying to 'tame' it. I'm sorry I don't have a suggestion for you, except, wanna trade? LOL

My hair is naturally wavy. I tend to shampoo at night and sometimes go to sleep on wet hair. (Isn't there an old wives' tale that I'll catch a cold?) I wake up and it's wavy and sometimes/often frizzy. I just pin it back at the temples with some decorative bobby pins. Find them in any chain drug store.

I use a WET LOOK GEL in my hair. I like the Garnier Fructis brand (BRILLIANTINE SHINE WET SHINE GEL) but many Co.'s make versions. I have thick, dry hair so it doesn't make my hair look wet, just kind of tames it and defines the curls/waves. I put more in areas that need it and kind of scrunch my hair (for areas that need more curl) or pull it (for areas that need to be straighten) when I put it in.

I also like Biosilk SILK THERAPY. It adds a little shine and tends to straighten areas that are over wavy. (it's kind of like adding naural oil to your hair --so it will give you the second day look instead of the newly wash unmanagable hair day). It runs a little bit money though, so the VO5 stuff may do the same thing for less. Not sure. But if anyone tries the Biosilk...a little goes a long way..get a small bottle.

I called a friend who owns an Aveda salon, and asked for ONE product I can put in my hair to keep the wave but not the frizz. Without skipping a beat, he recommended Aveda Brilliant.

I towel dry my hair (get the drips out), and work a quarter sized amount through my hair. I was told that the key to this working is to NOT TOUCH IT. I diffuse it a bit sometimes, but other than that, I just go about my day. As my hair dries, I curls a bit more, but none of the frizzies come out. If I can ever find a picture, I'll post it.

I do best when my hair is rolled and I sit under a hood dryer. LOL! Haven't done that in years though. LOL! I just wash and let hair dry naturally and slip it into a ponytail or updo.

Before the silver really set in my hair was completely naturally curly, loved it but have since cut it very short. Hated the beehive feeling in the summer when the humidity hit. I always used Ban De Terre, they have an oil that you put in and leave. It is very light, only takes a drop or so. A friend with very wavy/curly hair in Florida uses a scarf after washing and wraps it around her head to flatten it and reduce the curl, she washes in the evening and sleeps this way.

my hair is naturally wavy...I can easily straighten it by brushing it with a round brush while I'm blow drying.

If I want to keep it curly, I use Biolage gel. Then I diffuse with blow dryer, scrunching it the whole time.

I always dry it completely with a dryer...I do not like the "wet" look on me.

I sometimes get a frizzy area, too. When that happens, I switch to a Marc Jacobs curly hair product ( I can't remember exactly what it's called)

I have that "one side, one way, other side another way" look.

I don't have curly hair, but everybody who has ever given me a perm says my hair curls easily. Just last week, I got a perm. Left sad curls up; right side waves down.

Didn't know so many others had the same problem.

I'm going to look into some of the products you all have mentioned.

Even tho my hair has some natural wave, my hairdresser insists I need a "body wave" perm every so often. I think she says so because it guarantees her big bucks from me. However, I don't have the same way she does with a blow dryer. Wish I could style my hair like my hairdresser does. My daughter is a hair dresser(not currently working) and she will do my hair for me once in a while. At a price, teehee.

Something to try to help tame the frizzies is one of the Dove mousses. I began getting gray hair in my 20's and have quite a bit of it now (underneath permanent color). The gray hair doesn't have the texture that my normal hair had, and after trying for years to find something, I was thrilled to try good old Dove mousse. It makes the frizzies go away and leaves the hair soft. There are a few different formulas, and I use the one for curls, it's awesome.

I use Biosilk or Coconut Milk (brand) serum. They're very similar only the Coconut Milk smells sooooo good. They are both very light and not sticky. Yes, a little goes a LONG way.
I don't use them everyday, because I don't want it to build up. I think serums can actually lead to dryness after awhile. So I cycle, so to speak. I very rarely use a dryer, just let it dry on its own.
There is a product line I buy that is the best (IMO) for when I want to really embrace my curl. It's called Jessicurl. It creates strong, soft, curls that really hold. I love it. I have to buy it online because I don't live close enough to a store that carries it, but it's worth it. I only use it once in a while.

I think hair products are very personal things and it really takes trial and error. I need just a small bit of product for my hair or I'm in trouble. I've tried tons of products for curly and wavy hair and I always come back to TresSemme Mousse for curly hair. I've tried more expensive products and I'm sure they all work for some people, but I always come back to that mousse.

I use a really good product called Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum. You can't get it in a drug store, has to be a salon (and I NEVER by stuff in the salon) but it works really, really well. You only have to use a tiny bit, about a dime sized amount and it tames hair very nicely. I always had perfectly straight hair that somehow got a weird wave in it when I got older, but not a nice wave, a slight wave that looks terrible. So I use that product and then straighten, but it would work great in hair that is almost curly. It's a little pricey but since you use so little it lasts a really long time. I've had my bottle for probably two years, but don't use it every day.
