Electric broom recommendation?

I need something small and handy to vacuum the tiled entry from my garage. Something I can leave right there in the closet so it's always ready. Maybe rechargeable.

Any recommendations? I was at Walmart today and they had a Bissell on sale for $43. They had Dirt Devils and lots of others too.

I need to vacuum dirt, dust, sand, grass (we live on a golf course and DH changes his golf shoes INSIDE the entry) and an occasional dead spider. And I need a corner crevice tool easy-to-use.

What should I get?

I love my Eureka Upright, they come in corded and cordless. They're sold at Target.

rhizo, for outdoors I use an old indoor broom. After my brooms are too worn to use indoors they get relegated to outdoor use. I'm in Southern California where the drought necessitates not using more water than we need. So no hosing of concrete. Your sturdy straw broom sounds like a good idea. They're cheap too! It looks like your Bissell broom has been discontinued. Too bad. It looked like a great option. walnutcreek, I think I'm in love. Nessentials is right up my alley, if I swallow hard when I enter my credit card number. A question on these horsehair brooms: I've never used one and they have shorter bristles than the run of the mill brooms we see. Is the sweeping action different? Do I need to learn a whole new skill? I'm so used to the longer bristles on the cheap brooms I've been using, I'm wondering if there is a learning curve here.

I have a Dirt Devil electric broom that I would gladly give you. Personally I had rather grab a real broom and a dust pan for miner jobs. I use the hand held Dyson for quick pickups. It only runs 6 minutes,but that has been sufficient for my use. The electric broom is heavier than a real broom. It has never picked up everything at one sweep. Have to go over 1 or 2 more times. Then it has to be plugged back in. It is practically new, but I am going to give it to someone just to get it out of my way.

d_gw - WOW!. I find it totally cool learning about the creative ways that people use to make a living. I think that is awesome. When I got married, many moons ago, we jumped the broom. I would have spent $350 on that broom. MAYBE. Well, probably not. I am cheap..... On the other hand, the brooms in your link are like works of art, and I love art! Which brings me to a art showing that I went to a couple of months ago. Half the exhibit consisted of a display of brooms from various time periods. On another note, I put my vacuum together this morning and I was so excited I decided to sprinkle some rice, bulgar wheat, cornmeal, and cherrios on the floor and see how it would handle. I recorded my results. There must be something seriously wrong for me to be so excited that I would post a video.... I first tried pencil shavings and cheerios with similar results.

"...large burner in the rear" The largest burner is always at the front. The Amana AER6603SFS has 9" at the front left and 8" at the right rear. The Bosch HII8056U has it's 11" burner at the center rear but it's induction.

I have the Bissel 3 in 1 sweeper. It's not cordless. It's my second one.

I also have a swivel sweeper rechargeable, but for what you are asking for check out the bissel 3 in 1.

I just purchased a Hoover floormate wet & dry vac. It's not cordless, those would have to be recharged. It has a really long cord tho.... GREAT suction, brush action with water if you want it......I have it stored in my front closet (the handle folds up)and plan on using it on the tiled floors at my rental as well.

I have the Bissel, which is corded and I love it. I've purchased cordless ones and don't like them at all - the batteries are worthless - don't hold a charge for long and they have little power. I use mine on my hardwood and tile, picking up sand, and it works like a charm!!!

I have the dirt devil corded (converts to hand vac), and also the swiffer cordless. The swiffer cordless is ok, for something really quick like crumbs by a high chair, but, the tiny cup doesnt hold enough to do a lot with it. The dirt devil, works great, and I would buy it again. I dont know the model of it, without digging it out of the closet. Its red in color.

I have a Sharp rechargeable that I like, though I have to keep it plugged in all the time or it only lasts for a minute.

Well I appreciate the input, but there's really no consensus here. So I am not sure what to do.

I have definitely decided I want CORDLESS. I want to spend less than $75, so if the battery wears out I will just throw the whole thing away and buy a new sweeper..

I guess I'll go back to wally world and look them over. I am 1.5 hours away from a Target.

I just went out and bought the Bissel 3 in 1 today and I like it. It's
very light weight but has a lot of suction. The cord is short enough so it's not in the way and it picks up all the little stuff on the kitchen floor that drives me nuts, whether it's crumbs or kitty litter in the hallway. And it's short enough that it fits in my broom closet. I always have to put the Swiffer in at an angle. I'm happy.

I'm trying to decide between the Bissell 3-in-1 and the Swivel Sweeper Max for use on carpeted steps. The Swivel Sweeper looks like the best but will I have enough charge to do the entire staircase (total steps: 12)? Any advice would be appreciated! :-)
