jbs very well might- the like other prunus species members. to see if it's jb's, go out midday and shake your tree. if a swarm of bugs come flying off, they are likely jb's. sometimes they can be hard to see. also, cherries are a favorite of tent caterpillars, and they will completely defoliate them. but- i'd think you'd notice the tent. even if the pillars were still small, if you notice a dense white webbing at the juncture of some of the branches, you've got tent caterpillars. there are a couple broods a year.

I don't use any oils or pesticides for insect control as I grow organically. google Arbico. they specialize in beneficial insects. I ordered three praying manti egg cases. one for my yard and for my neighbors on both sides. one egg case hatches abou two hundred manti. They devour every insect you hate. and once they live out their life cycle they lay their own egg cases. so now I have an ongoing population of manti. I live an hour north of death Valley so its a desrt hot blazing summers freezing winters if my manti can stay alive year after year your area will support them as well. also consider Ladybugs these are literalyy the toughest bug in the pack they eat every single pest bug you can imagine problem is when they eat everything they move on to find more food. I even take my baby manti indoors to work over my bonsai and houseplants I leave a couple of windows open all the time for my cats to get in and out. so manti have an escape, or entrance if they choose. I grow vegetables, tobacco, fruit, housplants and bonsai. this was a permanent and inexpensive solution to my bug problem. Good Luck!!!!

Consulting my trusty Reader's Digest "Garden Problem Solver" I see that the only diagnosis they come up with for holes in cherry leaves is caterpillars. Slugs are unlikely in a tree, unless it's really small, and Japanese beetles you would spot easily, particularly early in the morning when they lie abed sluggishly amongst your leaves. However, there are all sorts of bugs that chew leaves. Flea beetles are frequent culprits on small plants. The question is, how ruthless do you want to be about getting rid of them? Gardens Alive has all kinds of organic bug killers and the book "Great Garden Formulas" has everything from hot pepper and garlic sprays to beer for slugs. Just remember that just because you find these ingredients in your refrigerator doesn't mean that they are benign to the helpful bugs that you want to keep around. Good luck! I used to basically live on frozen pizza and burgers when I first moved into the house. So much going on and not much time to cook, it was easy to just throw one in the oven and pop open a beer. I've tried most all of them out there. I can't stand Digornios. It's like a piece of Texas toast with sauce on it. I want a pizza crust or something unique. I do like Freshetta though. That's much closer to a pizzeria crust and the flavor of the pizza is good. As long as I remember I've always liked Totinos for some reason. I really started to like them back when they put some sauce on them. Today it looks more like it's a dyed crust but I do like the crust on them. I doctor them up with cheese, bacon, sausage or whatever I have. Don't need to doctor up the Freshetta much except maybe some Romano. I haven't had a pizza of any type in a long time now. For a while I picked up the u-bakes from Aldi or someplace. 16" loaded with meat for less than $6, and occasionally under $5. Not a bad way to cover the craving. I can't remember the recipe I used to use for a quick dough when I'd make my own. I saw it on TV one time. It was a knockoff of Pizza Hut's pan pizza. I remember you used self-rising flour and club soda. Maybe that was all there was to it? I always added some Italian seasoning, garlic and maybe some onion to the dough with a little extra oil and it was pretty decent. Also made the "crazy crust" quite a bit for a while. Haven't done that for a long time either. I've tried the shelf crust like Boboli and I guess for desperation they'd work. I guess I'd prefer the Pillsbury to them if that's all that was available. After making one of the simple crusts, Boboli is not even given a second look by me anymore. The local store had their version available in a wheat crust but the bad memories left it sit on the shelf. I know people who buy the frozen bread dough to use for a pizza crust. I've never tried it.
