Off to lollapalooza tomorrow!

Huge music fest in Grant Park in Chicago on Fri, Sat and Sun. Mom lives in burbs, so we will stay at her house and train it in, I think.

We really don't do summer vacations, so this is my excuse to spend some time with the kids, listening to music and eating and being in Chicago. Although I am probably kidding myself if I think they want to be around us oldsters,lol.

There are lots of great bands, more indie rock than ever. We will see Lady Gaga on Friday night but I'm sure I'll be watching from way in the back. Most of the other bands I'm interested in are fairly obscure so I won't bore you. So, wish we luck I don't get sunburned and blistery feet and I'll attempt to post gaga pics.

We have SW moderate white trim with whole wheat. I love it. Really gives a warm feel. Our windows are white and I put up white wood blinds. Next to ceiling our crown blends in. If you stare at it you will see the difference but not noticeable. I can send you some pictures against my white windows and ceiling.

I wasn't going to do anything because I'm supposed to get auto updates. Ususally when I get the Updates are ready message, I check and they are already installed. Well, I just checked and I have one update necessary. I'm doing it now, hoping that nothing is wrong. It's working, but boy is it slow. I do have virus protection. More scary though - I got a message the other day that a virus was innoculated. Here's hoping nothing is wrong. I can't stand these bored techno-geeks!! With all that we could use their talents for, they choose to do this. I'm sure they could get satisfaction and more money working their talents honestly.

Enjoy Kat..go RYAN and RED STORM! Kian got his first Varisty over the fence homer last Friday..ended up with 4 RBI's for the game and some spectacular defensive plays at First. They played the state champs on Tuesday here and lost 6/3..but they are there (Snohomish) tonight and winning 7/2 in the 3rd.

Lately in Chicago, you haven't needed sun screen....however, rubber boots and umbrellas would be a good thing to pack! It's been humid, humid, humid for the last month or so...more excessive than most summers.

Hope you have fun and that you arrive downtown AFTER Obama heads out today!

sooo jealous, wish i could be there! i went to several lolla fests at the beginning, i think the first was my fav soundgarden & red hot chilli peppers... in my twenties we went to at least 6 concerts a month, of course tix were only $20-30 then LOL. living in chicago you can zip up to alpine in WI, milwaukee, Indy, Detriot and St Louis w/ a few hrs drive plus 3 in chicago and all the clubs too ...those were the days :-(

Thanks everyone. I've got my spf 100, bottled vitamin water which I'll freeze, a blanket and good walking shoes. I think I'll carry a backpack, although I haven't used one since college. It will be interesting to see if hubs and I are older than the rest of the fest goers, lol. Who cares!

The dilemma is going to be how to see all the bands I want to see when they overlap. I know things will prbably run late and I will miss some. But my definite "sees" are Lady G, Arcade fire, rogue wave, cut copy, edward sharpe, temper trap, phoenix, blitzen trapper, and yeasayer. Thank you to my darling children for turning me on to some awesome music.

Liz, you sound just like me when I was young and living in the city. Those were the days!

Nah, you won't be the oldest! The last big festival I went to was the US Festival. And back in the day I used to go to concerts all the time too. Yes, tickets were so much cheaper then. We lived close to Irvine Meadows and the grass seats were fun back then. I can't tell you how many times I slept in the car in a parking lot waiting for Ticket Master to open up!

If you like that sort of thing, try one of the summer fest venues in Milwaukee. We are planning to attend Irish Fest, one the world's premier Irish music shows and culture.

The best way to get there. Drive to a park and ride lot specializing in the Fest and that is served by city buses. Take the bus to the fest. The fare is about $2 and the parking is free. Sure beats driving down to the fest and parking in one of the fee lots there.
