I wish I knew how to properly post this rather than just copy and paste, but I've misplace the paper I wrote on that told me how to do it.

Basically, the article says that if you take a picture with an iphone or anything with gps capability, your exact location is captured and can be deciphered. It is also rather tricky to disable. Shoot, nothing, but nothing is private anymore.

yup! most cells phones already have that capacity. i recently got a Nikon camera that has an accessory that Geotag's but after a bit of research i found out the camera actually already does this. i was happy about it but DH who is a security/privacy fanatic was shocked the camera recorded/embedded the info w/o the $100 accessory.

this doesn't bother me but i do understand those who are. i think of this as another 'security' measure. i am actually shocked by how many stupid people there are who do things that are illegal or wrong then get caught thru technology but I LOVE IT LOL. hellooooo cameras, tracking, computers all of it is everywhere you can not get away from it in this country, you will eventually get caught. there are of course good sides to every bad part of technology. i grew up in an environment where i was always told everyone was watching us (political) we never ever knew privacy. 13 yrs after i moved away from chicago i finally had a trip back this past june where some stranger didn't bother me w/ questioning. ~ liz

Yup, I hit this problem in July when my 15 year old Maytag washer died. There’s a huge backlog and the supply chain of appliances and replacement parts is dry (no pun intended). while I ended up replacing the $260 transmission in mine to get it back into service, I later found that the small mom & pop appliance dealers had better inventory in my area...Reno‘s Appliance here in NJ had Speed Queen TC5000 toploaders at $929 and $30 delivery. Same for big online sellers such as appliancesconnection.com You might get better results by shopping the small appliance stores in your area. If not, appliancesconnection.com shows the Speed Queen LWN432 commercial old school machine (no water level setting, and warranty is parts only, nice clicky timer) in stock for $829 and free shipping.

^^^Thanks, DLM2000. The watch model no is Armitron WR 165 FT. That probably translates as Water Resistant to 165 feet. I agree that those screws at each corner appear to be for secouring the whole shebang., but I cleaned off the dust and looked closely at the raised area. I cannot detect any seam or place to insert any Lilliputian oyster shucking tool. I’m not sure I understand your second paragraph. I get that once opened for the battery swap, it will no longer be water proof/ water resistant. But are you saying that a jeweler can replace the battery and re-secure the water resistance? Maybe I should just get a new watch, then leave mine someplace with a FREE, but… note on it, or just pitch it. PS I think the last time I went to the local mall (about 10 years ago) there was a quasi jewely-watch kiosk operated by some Pakistani looking men. Maybe they can swap batt (CR 2025, about $3) or sell me a new utilitarian low profile cheapy. I’m glad I only spent $15 on it 6 to 10 years ago. Have not worn it much, but no was to pause the battery.
