Has to be in Jpeg form. Do you have a little arrow drop down where you can over ride the preselected format?

My pics are all jpegs Nicole. I can't even save websites or word documents or pdf's either. I must be doing something wrong, but don't know what it is.

(Presuming you are right handed...)

Right click on the picture you want to save. You'll get a little popup window. Left click where it says Save Picture As...

You'll then get a window where you will need to navigate to your flash drive:

If you have a subfolder on the jump drive that you want to use, you'll just have to double click on the drive letter for the drive until the folder tree is shown, then choose the appropriate folder and click Save.

This is a new jump drive right? What brand is it?

DH says it sounds like the flash drive is locked. He would format it. IF it has U3smart software installed on it, you have to use U3. U3 is like a mini operating system. If you want to take the U3 off then you have to go to the manufacturers website to uninstall it off the jump drive.

Some of the USB drives have a write-protect switch to keep from overwriting things similar to the 3.5" floppy disk if you can remember back that far. A couple of my drives have that and I like it, especially when I let someone use it to take a file. See if that's the issue.

Also, some claim that not using the Safely Remove Hardware setting can damage a drive to the point it's not usable. I've never seen it happen but many caution about it. You could try running a disk check on it too. These drives can be reformatted too if needed.

I think that it might be locked. Some, not all, have a tiny little slide switch that can accidentally be moved. Happened to me last night. I couldn't delete something from the card and come to find out that little switch had been moved. It is such a small switch that I wasn't even aware that it was there until DH told me that might be the problem and I took a real close look.

My flash drive is very tiny, about half the size of a stick of gum. Slim with no buttons, slides or anything.
It's a Gizmo Jr, if you want to google it. I tried saving a picture of the image of it, but it wouldn't come thru as a picture.

The **very** weird thing, is I have a few pictures and websites on it, from an earlier time, so the darned thing did work.
Now however, I can't do a thing with it. Tons of space/memory on it, so it's not that.

My little 4GB drive performs beautifully, but I "needed" more space. Bought a 16GB drive that is just giving me fits. At first I thought that the problem could be that I transport data from a Mac to a PC and vice versa. But I found that even when I go strictly from Mac to Mac or PC to PC, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It often creates its own file names with characters that won't allow me to copy from the disk. Each time, I have to reformat it, and it works for a bit again and I think I've conquered it. Then it performs badly again. Yesterday I loaded several zipped files onto it and when I got home and tried to open them, they were all corrupt. But I checked the files here at work, and they open fine. I returned a previous drive for the same bad behavior, and this is a different brand from a different seller, so I think there is just something I am missing - a little trick, if you will. I'd sure love to figure it out.
