Hi Ellie. My name is Ellie too; but I go by Nanny here due to being the grandmother to boys that are now military age and I am thinking of changing back to my 'real'name. But Welcome. I love 'the Table' and hope that you will hang out here with us for awhile. I've got a new recipe here for "Sees's Gooey Brownies" I am dying to try...sound good?

I want my WM Door Greeters back !!! RANT
Q
Comments (17)
Wow, I am sorry some people don't see the extra benefits of having "trained" greeters. No one wants a job where they are considered mentally and/or physically lazy. These folks chose to work rather than take from their counties and cities. They either got a good supervisor or a loser. That is something they can't control if wm hires them as a line item on their budget as a PR stunt rather than give them meaningful training on how the store works and a map of it to learn and pass out. It appears that some have no idea how hard it is to get a job after you are considered to old to work by your last employer. These greeters have been the "only" people who welcomed me into this frickin store. I ask them for help because when given a chance you may discover like me 1) they give me individual attention and know where things are 2) they are estactic to get some respect, eye contact and a couple of people to talk to and help. They even give me a little more info then I asked for which I thank them for 3) I know they were more than greeters in their lifetime and I want them to keep their jobs and make a little money; not just what the government tells people they can have. 4) they are somebody's family in MY country. Who among us will discover that we would be lucky to get a job as a greeter.

Matti, I tried to reach out to you and Georgie. Chemocurl was working with me on the other side with new computer techniques. I even made a Halloween card that included Georgie's dog and others for Georgie using my new training.I got in trouble for posting the final result of my training but I was thrilled to have chemocurl as my friend. Very patient and I learned a lot and liked that she is so darn real and tries to be kind and encouraging. I was moving right into Georgie's backyard and she asked me where I was going to live. when I told her where I was moving to I got no answer. I understood and moved on. When georgie called out for me I told her I was on the Computer Help side. No answer and when I came back to trivia it was not the same for me. Jasdip was clear I was not wanted even though when she was having personal problems I offered her a place to run to. Georgie, never spoke to me again and jasdip missed the fact that I won 2 days in a row. Not much to analyze. For a long time the questions were repeats and too easy to google and I didn't want to be a part of people who did that. I enjoyed the smart answers to the dumb questions that were impossible to answer. Quite a mess but possibly a misunderstanding on the part of you and georgie and me. Someone suggested journaling every morning and and what I wrote back to you all it was off the page in a couple of minutes due to an onslaught of everyone writing at once. I got lost in the shuffle and was off the page before anyone could read it. I probably was not the only one whose posts were missed. A bad idea that I guess stopped. But I am on other sites like Computer Help and Decorating where one can go off the subject and talk about any thing off topic from decorating on a side channel. I will continue to come over here but I miss so many who got passed over and left. It is great to have a core group and I find Alisande and others spot on with good questions so when it comes to someone being ill or losing a spouse I am there. Like Phoggie who lost her husband. I don't see her and because she was brought to this site maybe by raven she got taken care of and was able to move on. I miss mommyme if that is the right name and wrote her when she got ignored and sue va who doesn't answer my e-mails. I remember the big build up when you join. The hellos and glad to have you but they don't last for some of us. There is a core group of wonderful people like Glenda who has always something going on. Inspirational and would love to meet her. And others who never recognize my questions or praise. But I feel the need to tell them they are clever like lazypup and his frog.It would take another 10 years to be recognized by some. Sorry, Susan that I hijacked this. It may be that I only want a few to know how I feel. But I suspect people are concerned about your health and will find this rant but may pass over to get to your new info. You have been a great help for many people I understand and taught them to journal about their life. Good stuff. It seems that so many are glad you did that. Let's see you figure this out. I am hoping for new news and good treatment. Yes, you are someone I would like to meet also. Please keep journaling your time of day and reactions. And if your BP is important stay with it because mine fluctuates so very much without a bit of caffeine in my body. Enough... Ellie

I have to disagree with the statement about Mush making a big scene, I didn't find this post to be hurtful or hysterical or "drama queen" material. I would prefer to read that someone is leaving for a while rather than worry about her sometime in the future. And she's right- this forum IS different, we've all pretty much agreed on that point. I don't recall anyone insisting that we need to all agree about everything all the time, that would be an unreasonable expectation and unwanted, too. On the other hand, I don't think it's too much to ask for people to be polite or tactful, instead of rude or hurtful or tenacious to the point of obnoxiousness. That's my point about presentation. When Mom said "nobody likes a know-it-all", she was right. But hey, this is just what I think. I know everyone is not the same and we don't all have the same temperament and feelings are going to be hurt occasionally. I would hope it would be accidentally, instead of on purpose, though.

Boy do I love this site and you women and there is a man or 2.I need you so much now and thank you for such an unbelieveable welcome. Tears are starting.I am retired I guess, I taught autistic kids and adults and was the guardian of 3 little girls who found me when I got divorced 30 years ago. They stayed with me thru college and now are moms who live far away.I do have dogs and cats and will till I die.
I love to make new friends and some of my best moments are when I have met new ones coming out of the grocery store and the Salvation Army store. Everyone is great in there.
I have to say I have laughed and cried with you all for a
while now. I wish I did bring food but will come up with one of my simple ones for you. Talk atcha later.

Ellie, Georgy is a girl as in Hey, Hey, Georgy Girl (you're probably too young to remember that one) and she is a Goldendoodle. LOL. I do have four kids...two girls and two boys but they are grown and spread around the country. Two in California, one in Pittsburgh, PA and a daughter lives here but she and her husband travel with touring Broadway shows and they are on the road most of the time. They are in the production end not the acting end. So, now Georgy Girl amuses me. She's really quite a character.

Mom, Of course I remember Georgie Girl. At almost 66 I have lots to remember!!
I did have the feeling that you were going to tell me your
child was not a kid anymore. A goldendoodel sounds wonderful. I would think he is a big dog.

I will have to check out the recipes over on the other site if that is how you do it. If it is the same I will let you know.
I am from Virginia too and think it is the prettiest state and would like to really retire in Williamsburg if I can get around to it.
SamKaren: is that one or two names? I sorta like to know the gender of the folks. What are you, Ay? The Ay is for Jasdip.

All these accents. Although you all sounded the same to me before. Phyllis and Dotmom thanks for 'howdie"
and the lovely sparkly welcome.

Marilyn, yes, kids love this easy taco salad and encourage them to start it themselves and I will do the cut up work.
I'm taking care of my neighbor's kitties so will have to go over there for a couple of hours and play with them. They are great fun and love to be brushed and hugged. I can feel the hair in my nose now.

Another welcome from So. Central Mo. My grandson teaches Autistic children and that's how he met the sweet girl he married last Sept. She was a nanny for a family and brought the little girl to the place where DGS worked and the rest is history. He loves his job.

Welcome from South Jersey, Ellie. I'm so glad you've decided to join the group. It's w great place to spend time vising with friends all over the country. Are you still in Virginia?

Donna I have worked with autistic people for 30 years. When they grow up you can see what a good program with hardworking parents can do. The strategies aren't much different.

Maire I used to go to Stone Harbor in NJ when I was a kid.
We had a summer home and my mom went there when she was a child. I wonder how it is now. It was family friendly then and I remember some really strong lightning during storms. My mom hid in the closet(during the storms I mean) so I went in their too but didn't want to.

I briefly worked with special ed kids including some with autism when I taught at a non-public school. As a pre-school teacher in a public school I often have autistic students who have not yet been assessed.

They are such interesting, unique individuals.

It's nice to have you here, Ellie!

Welcome Ellie45!
