What do you use for your start page?

I use yahoo, but they have started putting a large banner ad at the top of the page and it's really awful to close that every time. I like the newsy stuff on yahoo but cannot stand that banner ad.

I'd like to know what others use.....

I have Google as my home page, since it's the site I seem to use the most.

As Davidinct mentioned the standard ProMix has Mycorise included but you can also order it with Biofungicides for a little extra per bale ($1.45 from my supplier). Both of these additives have research support for reducing pathogen organisms and the biofungicide can even boost production due to the benefit of the root colinizing organisms. These are similar to a whole new line of commercial products like TC-22, Rootshield, etc. Either way this new technology in planting media makes good sense. The opposite, very risky alternative of using any unsterilized material can lead to a complete wipeout of your seedling crop in a few days from soilborn pathogens. I would never,ever attempt to start seeds in soil from the garden. Your time is too valuable to risk the crop loss.

I am confused by chijim's comments because all of the pictures that are on the walls now are black and whites and are framed in black. I think that does tie them together. I am not focused on anything on any flat surface at the moment. That is a bunch of stuff from different rooms, or is cat food to be honest, because that is where the sick cats eat. At my DR table. I never actually eat there. :) I have just been working on the wall color, drapes, and wall picture layout. At least that is what my focus was meant to be with this thread, and trying to see if the rug I have will work with it all. I feel like it is coming together in my head. We shall see what the end result is. ;) No worries Punamytsike. I don't mind the comments. It helps to hear other opinions. I can't wait to see what you do with your new spaces which will be so different from your last house. I know it will be fabulous. I think it is interesting that Chijim mentions crown molding. I have to say I was really against it, but DH voted for it, and my parents brought it up yesterday too, so I guess that is a battle I am going to lose. I just think it will bother me to have painted molding when all the other trim in the house is stained. Of course my dad said I should just paint all the trim, but the stained trim has grown on me and I don't really want to do that. If I had my way I would probably do some kind of stained funky trim, but I am sure that would not get many votes either. I think I have convinced DH to do this room next, and he just finished tiling my bathroom, so hopefully we shall see some progress soon. I will keep posting updates in case anyone is interested. It helps me to type out my thoughts too. I know orange/blue is not everyone's cup of tea, and I guess I have a quirky style.

My computer runs 24/7, less occasional reboots. I have it open the last pages I had open and I have several pages (TV logs, a couple weather pages, OneTab, email page and my "home page") pinned. I made my own start page with links to common places I go. This developed over the years. I added images for radar, weather forecasts, etc and has since grown to a large page. I often have a number of pages open. For instance when I go to some YouTube pages I wind up opening up others that are linked on that page. I open them in new tabs so I don't lose the other links of interest. Then close them down. If the computer locks up or something, it'll open the last set of pages and I can continue. One of the best things I did was spend the time making up a page of links. Now I tend to use OneTab more than the link page but it still has the old links and info on there so it gets used quite often. I never liked the bookmark/favorites setup on browsers. Works great for me.

Yeah use ad block plus and easy list you never see the ads, so you can enjoy any page and your email with no ads.
I have mine set to open my Hotmail when I open Firefox.
I also have a netvibes page set up with feeds from all my favorite sites so I can view and access everything from the one page.

I've actually been using iGoogle.com--it is customized with a bunch of things I like (i.e., my biorhythms, local weather, etc.). Unfortunately, it will not be available after November 1, so then I will just use the plain Google page.

I only use my IPads, so whatever page was open on Safari unless I closed it all. Can't remember the last time I used a computer.

I use Bing because I like to be greeted by an interesting photo or video when I open my browser. However, I use Google for any searches I do.

On my laptop I don't have a start page, I have it set to be blank, then just go to where I want usually from my bookmarks bar.

I also use a blank page. It's faster that way. I will then go to where ever I want to go. ;)

I use Yahoo as well as my start page.
If you download AdBlock Plus, you won't see ads on any site, ever.

Raven and others...you mean my regular popup blocker is just not enough? (Obviously it isn't, but seems to me it should work! LOL) I guess I could step up the level to "high."

I switched to CNN anyway, dumped yahoo, too much unimportant stuff there anyway. I showed them! I'm sure they are going to miss me! (ha!)

oh no the basic blocker is not enough. If you add adblock plus with the easylist subscription you will see NO ads ever none anywhere. LOL It is an entirely different surfing experience. No waiting for pages to load all those big ads, it makes things so much faster and less script errors from poorly written ads.
Plus so many of the drive by infections are in those ads.
Adblock plus was originally for firefox but they now have versions for some of the other browsers. If you say which one you use I can help you locate one. It is one of the big reasons I use firefox on my pc as well as all my tablets and phone, I just love some of the add ons.
