Actually, Vikki, I'll go with the dark wood regardless of the sex of the baby. The pic just happens to be shown in white. I like the dark wood with the blue or pink and chocolate.

I'm feeling good. Getting big (much bigger the 2nd time around!), I'm 17 wks now. I had a doctor appt today and he did an ultrasound but baby was being shy so I'll have to wait until my big u/s Monday to hopefully find out the sex.

If you ask Grant where the baby is, he'll pull up your shirt (anyone's shirt) and point to your belly! LOL

They are both very pretty, but I think I like the curved top better too.

Let me throw a 2nd part to the question out there:

Do you think the curve looks a little more feminine and it would be better for a girl, and the straight more masculine making it better for a boy?

I like the curve too but I do think it's slightly more feminine. Ok, I just found a pic of it in the dark wood.

Well, the straight top one looks more modern, male and Frank Lloyd Wright. The curved one looks more traditional and a less boxy, more graceful. What are the lines in your other furniture in the room--straight lines or some curves? I would go with what works with your other furniture.

I like the curved for a girl. I do think it is a little bit more feminine. I like the white too but I just like white.

I dont have other furniture yet. I'm getting all new furniture for the room and will buy the dresser based on the crib. Each of them has a matching dresser. The dresser for the curved crib doesn't have any curves.

The only other piece of furniture in the room will be a glider chair/ottoman.

I love the curved. My new grandson has the curved in the natural wood...it is so beautiful!

I'm with you, Steph...I think the curved look is girlish.
I'm just imagining boy stuff with those curves, and it doesn't "feel" right.

I like the white w/the curve! It looks softer and I think soft when I think of a baby..regardless of the sex.

I like the curved top. I think the darker color makes the other one look more "boy" - I like the softer shape of the curve for any baby.

I used the same crib for all three of mine - and it was shot when the last liitle one was done, LOL!!! It was nearly rattled apart. DD#2 was the hardest on it. She was scaling the sides before she was year old, and I had it all the way down - she was a climber. She is just a teenager now and has the longest darn legs - I still picture one hiked over the edge of the crib and her pulling herself out....I digress....:0)

I like the straight top better. It is very "Frank Lloyd Wright" inspired.

Well, I guess I am on my own here. I prefer the straight top....mostly because it is cleaner looking, but I think it is also too feminine for a boy.
You will love whatever you choose because of who's in it!!!!

Grant still sleeps in his crib at night but we're going to transition him to a twin bed soon (Brent wants to make it so as soon as he does that we'll switch him), but we're taking his current crib to our house at the lake.

Steph, is this the type of crib that morphs into a bed as the child grows? If so, then I like the straight top. I think it will be fine for a girl or boy.

I definitely like the curved top better. It's more of a classic look to me. For either sex.

For a girl, I would go with the white curved crib - it would look great with pink, chocolate and white. And if it's a boy, the dark wood with a straight back. But I don't think you can go wrong with whatever style and colour your choose, as they are really lovely cribs.

steph, dd2's mil got the dark colored one (curved back) and i was dissapointed in it. you think as much as she paid, the finish wouldn't have chipped and light wood showing thru...

you're not going to get a "big boy" toddler bed and use the one you have?

Definitely the curved top -- With the more "masculine" accessories and bedding, it will be just great, not girlie at atll.

BTW, the straight top crib looks like its the upper front corners are sharp.

I'd like the curved one for a girl, and the straight-topped one for a boy.

Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Considering the first two, I agree that the curved-top one looks more feminine.

To answer your question about a toddler bed...no, Grant wont have a toddler bed. I'll get him a twin bed and the crib he's currently using will go to our house at the lake.

I like the dark wood one and the legs on it too. Plus, it does have a curve to it also, just not on the top of the rail but beneath it. It covers all bases. Can't wait to here about your doc visit Monday.

The other two look like cages. It looks like either of them would be hard to clean under. Kids do toss things around and stuff will end up underneath the crib.

The first one, the white one has some sort of 'princess and the pea' thing going on with four mattresses to fill in the visual space. The second pic shows the one mattress so low it would be hard to pick up a baby. The third pic shows one skinny mattress high up, making the thing look like a bunch of sticks or a big bug.

If it has to be a choice between the first two posted then I would go with the first one with the graceful curve.

My DD is expecting in Oct she is having a baby girl she got the dark one with the curve, her colors are the same as yours:) It must be the new thing~~her bedding is in ladybugs and dots all in the pink and browns with some light blue and green. I think either is fine for a boy or a girl.

Is this the bedding you're DD got, lunchlady? If so, it's actually one of the ones I'm considering. I think it's so cute. They have a blue/brown version with turtles.

dilly_dally, the mattress on the 3rd picture is high because that's where a mattress is supposed to be for a newborn. Underneath it, there's usually a dust ruffle but you really can't help all that extra space. It does kinda look funny until the mattress is lowered.

The mattress at it's lowest point, like you mentioned, is the same distance from the top of the side rail as it would be if I had a drop side crib in the down position. It just looks visually akward but they're all the same distance.

There actually isn't 4 mattresses on that one photo, it's one mattress, a dust ruffle and a bumper pad.

I think most cribs look like cages but once you dress them up with the bedding, they do look better.

Cute pic with the lady bug bedding. Is the crib 2-tone? I've never seen one like that.

They are both beautiful cribs and which ever one you pick, it will be lovely. I can't wait to find out if you will be going pink or blue! (I know I'm not the only anxious one either!) lol

Personally, I tend to lean toward the curved one with the dark tone wood. Just seems less hard. But once you have that beautiful baby, nobody will even notice the crib. All eyes will be on the little one.

I like the one without the curve, but I prefer that look in most of my furniture. Brody's crib has no curve, and yes, I think the curve makes it more feminine. We have the opposite bedding of the ladybug--we have the turtle one for Brody, so of course, I really like the ladybugs!!

THe dark one will look new longer. It will brighten up depending o the bedding etc. Easier to look at for a longer time. The little munchkin will be out of it in a couple of VERY short years....so I'd spend more time planning the future bedroom.

Pooh, I can not do that pic thingie~~it is not the same one but the same idea, hers has some green in it. I love the on you have picked and the turtles will look cute if it is a boy. Baby things are so beautiful and soft now days:)

Are you getting it from the Baby Supermall site online?? I was just there and saw yours that is where my DD got hers from. Yours is called Mod Ladybug or maybe the other way around?? Hers is Ladybug Lullabye. Awww they are all so cute hard to pick.
