:( One of DD's bunnies...

has uterine cancer and it has spread to her lungs. They found out today. They didn't know anything was wrong with Cieri until after they came home from vacation, when she started acting odd. DS & I went to feed and water and didn't notice anything. She has started stretching her neck to breathe. The vet did x=rays and gave them meds with steroids in them to help. It won't be long. She couldn't not bring her home. Damien's first day of school was today. It will be bad enough telling him (he's 7), without having him come home from school to have her gone with no warning. OH, and Cieri will be 7 in November.

We had a bunny and know what dear pets they can be. I hope that her passing will be painless.

I am so sorry about poor Cieri. I have asthma and not being able to breathe is a terrible feeling.

Well, now Chris, that's a whole new can of worms - shopping! We were at a stained glass store looking through the 'leftovers' when she approached the owner and asked if there was any orange coloured stained glass in the store that she would sell at the same price as the pieces in the leftover bin. There was no orange in the leftover bin. We walked out with her holding a beautiful piece one foot square of the brightest orange purchased for $2.00!! You should see this girl bargain at the flea market too. Darn, she's good! Her friends will constantly call and see if she can go shopping with them since she can spot a bargain from a mile. Last week she got a nice sweater at GAP and got the clerk to reduce it by another 15% - it was already reduced by 25% - because there was a small stain on it. The stain came off in the washer. Not bad!

Sigh, I just love bunnies! I did dd's nursery in a bunny theme using Susan Turner bunny bedding, and I still haven't taken down some of my Easter decor. I think those plates are just the sweetest, and hope you find them. Thought you might like this....ds made it in second grade art class and I put it out every year for Easter (much to the chagrin of his now 16 year old self! :) ) I often keep it out until Fall...love it so much.

Which is why I said "you do what you have to do". We have all been there and had to leave the garden at some time for one reason or another. We come home, even after a brief absence, knowing that bad things happened to the garden while we were gone simply because gardens can't prosper without the regular attention. So we pull and pitch the damage, replant when possible or plant a new crop of something else and move on. My point is there is nothing gained by worrying or arguing (as some seem determined to do) about what may or may not have happened to these plants - cats, rabbits, loopers, groundhogs, crows, or aliens - because there is nothing you can do about it but pull and pitch them and be glad you could be there for your Dad instead. Thank you all, and thank you Dyhgarden. Yes, I agree. My heart hurts for him and his dibilitating head injury. But, he was former military, big, stocky, mid-thirties, and able to own and drive a car. So, in my mind (and others) it was possible that he could have harmed her. He didn’t. He abided the police order and I’m so thankful for that. I’ll keep him in my prayers for his recovery and a happy life, though.

You poor thing Tami. People who have rabbits as pets intrigue me. I'd love to hang out with the rabbit. I have too many plants, he'd be chewing them all!

I feel bad for you and the kids, and the surviving bunny.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I've had several rabbits (all except my first 2 as a child have been indoors) and they are wonderful; often misunderstood. They are loving, active, comedic little beings. I'm sorry for your little one and, since it's inevitable, I hope that the passing is quick and as stress-free for Cieri (love the name) as possible.

I am so sorry. Our Marmalade will be 10 in September and we know her time is very limited too.

Thank you all. She is on meds to help, and you can see that it does. DD said that her little face was all drawn back earlier, and after her meds this evening it was almost normal, but she is still breathing heavy. The x-rays show very little lung left. She still ate lettuce and dried apples from DH tonight when we were there, tho! I took pics but haven't uploaded them yet. She used to let DH use her for a pillow. As soon as I told him today, he said we had to go bug her before it was too late. Damien doesn't know yet, but I think he senses something.

Bunnylover, it sure isn't easy when they get that old, is it? Ten is old for a bunny, even a house bunny. Our first was 8 when we lost her. The two we have now are 5 and 6 1/2. The oldest is actually the mother to DD's other rabbit, born in 2006.

Cieri is a BIG bunny. If you cross your arms in front of you with your fingertips at the crease of your elbows and make an oval, that's about how big she is. All the rest of our rabbits are mini rex and mini rex mixes. She sure is going to be missed. I don't think she'll make it past the weekend, but she might surprise us.

Poor Cieri, she seems like a sweet girl. Hope she doesn't suffer too much. We love our pets so much, whether they are dogs, cats, bunnies or whatever and it's so hard to lose them. Hugs to all of you.
