((((((jasdip)))))) Enjoy your dinner and all the great memories. Remember, this is a celebration of Mom's life and she would want you to be smiling. I know it will be difficult but you have so much to celebrate.
Sending special thoughts and prayers your way. I hope you are now able to celebrate her life and take comfort in the wonderful memories you have.
I've been thinking of you. I sent you a card, but it came back--I didn't know you had moved. Just wanted to let you know that you were cared about. Hugs!
Wow, this is a hard day.Isn't the best that you have so many loving people thinking about you. I hope all the love you have been given holds you up. She must have had a good life -she had you.
It was a great time. 30 people, all visiting and eating and remembering. My brother welcomed everyone and mentioned how strong she was, and non-complaining through her ordeal. He got emotional near the end. He's been so stoic with all this, but he's not one to show his feelings (like Mom). So this got to him.
After dinner, I stood up and welcomed them as well, and said how much she would have loved this, and how she loved the family holidays. I mentioned things she said and did and got everybody laughing, and of course at the end, I cried a bit as well.
It was a great time, and her friends told me they were honoured to be invited to it. We had family and just a couple of her close friends. Their was a slideshow and the Eagles playing, just as she wanted.
Sounds wonderful. I'm so glad you held a memorial. My Mom passed January 15th, and my brother still hasn't got around to organizing a memorial. I've been bugging him but he's been busy, still cleaning out her house, getting ready to hold an estate sale and eventually sell her house.
I'm so glad it went well. I think a "Celebration of Life" is so much better than a funeral service. It gives the family a time to grieve, then shift the focus to celebrating the life rather than mourning the passing.
That's what we did with my mother, and it helped in the healing process.
Thinking of you, and hoping yesterday's service will help to heal your heart. Hugs!
How wonderful! I'm glad that you all got to gether and shared memories of your mom. You know that old quote....."When someone we love becomes a memory that memory becomes a treasure." I have found that to be so very true, I wrap each of them and try to carefully store them away.
I've been wondering how everything went. It sounds like you had a wonderful, special evening.......laughter and tears. Just what was called for. Your Mom would have been so proud of you.
