To me, that states that the OP knew the "joke" would be offensive to some. Therefore, in my opinion only, your opinion may vary, she should have put that line at the very TOP, not at the bottom.

I wouldn't say that I found the joke to be offensive, but I did find it to be unfunny - this time and all the other times that I've seen it when I've received it in a forwarded e-mail, etc.

Because there are many posts here at the KT where folks ask for advice, assistance, prayers, good thoughts, etc., etc., when I first saw the subject line Choking!, I immediately thought that either the OP or someone in her family/circle of friends had just experienced a horrible choking incident (perhaps especially so because of the exclamation point in the subject line). Thinking that the post might have some tips/advice/good suggestions, I opened it.

So, when I realized it was a repeat of a stupid joke (which some might term sexist and/or "racist" since it is an action taken by hillbillies [i.e., stupid men] against a woman), I felt a bit duped, since it seemed like the OP was taking advantage of KT folks' concerns, just to tell a stupid joke.

But, as I said, that's my opinion only, and your mileage may vary.

I think this post has turned into the joke! It's all just too funny! For my two cents, a lot of comics will lead you to the punch line by pretending a joke is really describing their lives. They do this on purpose so the punch line is an even bigger surprise.

Life's too short to bicker over something so unimportant!!!!

I didn't find it the least bit offensive- change it to all men and it's still a joke with a punch line that would make most people laugh if they hadn't heard it 20 times already.

I went to a family reunion in Arkansas back in April. There were definitely hillbillies there.

If anyone is interested in some really crass hillbilly humor, I'd like to recommend the book, "Pi$$ing in the Snow and other Ozark Folktales" by Vance Randolph. He was a folklorist who wrote about the Ozarks. This particular book is quite interesting.

There was a special on the History Channel last night but I was afraid to watch it.....

No idea, only Robert Ri knows and he may never return since this was his one and only post. There have been a lot of ancient posts returning from the grave lately for no apparent reason.

This one had reached the old limit of 150 comments. I'll give you the cliff notes. The OP posted a joke and the rest of the thread was people arguing whether it was funny or offensive.

I suppose Robert Ri was googling how to do the "Hind Lick Maneuver" and found this thread, lol.

Most common reason for bringing up a very old post is to post spam, usually as an edit a few days after the initial post.

I was reading this like it was a new post...then realized a lot of those people don't post here anymore. Scrolled down quickly and thought, "so glad I didn't post on this thread". Then I scrolled up slower to see who had posted and I guess I did post. I referenced things in the post but when I scrolled up more, whatever I mentioned wasn't there anymore. Looks like I was hallucinating because those pics are gone now. lol
