DH and I went shopping today. Looking for new carpeting for his room and a new mattressâ¦..such fun! He did take me to lunch afterwards. I had fish tacos and he had fried shrimp and cole slaw. DD and SIL are coming over in a little bit for a visit so I made a few low calorie appetizers and we'll have some wine. That's our dinner. She never wants to eat dinner because she watches her weight when in town. They're always on the road and the diet becomes a problem. (If a strong wind came along, it would blow her away)

About half inch of rain this morning. Otherwise warmish. The humidity is to be here until Monday or later.

I generally fix something that the missus overlooks in the fridge, so tonight will be grill eggplant, a green salad, cherry tomatoes and some other veggie. She declined to go to Weight Watchers this morning, I'll not be the one to add to the situation.

We've got the same weather Shirley, hot and humid. We need a rain, the gardens are dry and the trees leaves are hanging down. We've had rain, but it doesn't take long for things to dry up.

We had another meal of ham and potatoes, and beans. There was a bundle of fresh kale from the garden outside our door, so a salad is in the making tomorrow with it.

There's another meal of ham left, but I'm going to freeze it for another day, instead of eating it till we're sick of it.

Only mid 80's, but the 100% humidity is helping. Hoping a warm spell drops by for a few days, and thousands of smiles at the beach. Working on Happy Hour now with some Tequila. Will settle for a simple BLT with jumbo tomato that hangs over the bread and drips juice. Ample room for some Ice Cream.

Hot here- mid 90's. Sunny too. Perfect weather in my opinion. I hear a thunderstorm starting now though.

We met friends for dinner tonight at a Thai restaurant. DH and I had sushi, a noodle dish similar to pad Thai, veggie spring rolls and a piece of coconut cake.

I bought some bratwurst at the store that were on sale. I boiled them gently so they were fully cooked and then browned them in a pan with chopped onion, green pepper and sauerkraut.
And I made homemade potato salad, which turned out the best I've even made.

Glenda: Those gift cards are nice, aren't they? The meal items you chose all sound like good summer fare.

Georgysmom: Good luck on your new purchases. What kind of fish is used in a taco? They sound interesting. Sometimes I'd like a meal with just appetizers, if I had a slice of good bread too.

Jim: A vegetarian type meal. Will she like what you fix?

Jasdip: One of my favorite meals. You get so many good meal ideas using leftover ham. Wise gal though to freeze some for later down the road.

Old Fixer: That's the way my orange tomato slice was on my egg salad sandwich I had for lunch. What's the ice cream flavor of the day?

Kittiemom: It sounds as if you had a good time out tonight. I'll take some of your noodle dish, and would sit up and beg for a small piece of your cake. lol

Bob: Never thought of boiling them first. I wouldn't mind having some of your mixture on a hot dog bun. I'm a big fan of most homemade potato salads.

Seafood! The boiled shrimp were huge and very good. Everything was excellent. Had a pool party at my sisters house and really enjoyed the pool. Great visit with mom she was very aware and knew exactly who I was. We never know these days so that was a wonderful thing. Her 92nd birthday party is tomorrow.

We met some friends downtown for a fun night of walking from one restaurant to another, enjoying live music and an appetizer and a drink along the way. So, my evening meal consisted of a California roll, stuffed mushrooms, shrimp skewers, crab stuffed cherry tomatoes, and a side salad.

Robert had to be the designated driver because I can't see worth a darn at night so I enjoyed a cocktail or three, too. Great fun but a nap will be on my itinerary today, lol.
