Is baking sweet treats!! I've posted about my cake pops before but now I'm doing cake truffles (or cake balls). Same thing as the pops but without the sticks. They're easier and very pretty to look at.

I've also been learning how to decorate cakes and cupcakes. It's so much fun.

Kathy, I tried looking up your name and didn't come back with anything. Is Deckie your shop name? I'll be fixing mine so that my signin screen name is my shop name and just not part of it. What do you sell on there? Jeanne! Oh yeah! I may have to delve into the photography as well. I see a lot of people who have photography. My cousin Amy is painting and has hers listed in her shop there. Hummmm, now where can I find MORE time for the photography?? Tasymo (another Kathy!), Well, I'm not sure. I guess it depends. You need to learn as you go for sure. Read tutorials-take some leave some. You definietly learn about a lot! SO, I got another sale last night! I won't say who or what because it's a surprise. OMG -- You ARE addicted ! LOL ! Join the club :) Are you putting them outside ? I live in Wisconsin , right in the heart of the midwest - Milwaukee - USA ... and right next to Lake Michigan. Weird weather ! Heat , humidity ,cold temps ,rain and snow . I decided to make a bunch of plate flowers to hang on my bare wooden fence. I have about 20 plates hanging on it . They have braved the weather for 3 years now - all year round with no problem :) I used GE silicone 2 ..... I glued hangers on the back with the silicone also - looking at them , I would bet they last for another 5 years ! I highly recommend it -- I hope they have it by you ! PS - if you are addicted - this is the best place to be !!!

Can't reply to your email - you need to change your member settings so others can "see" your email address. The google spreadsheet app lets you choose your sharing options. Public is only one option. The others are private and to show anyone who has a link. Essentially, you would send the link instead of the sheet. The benefit is that us with the link would be able to see changes you make to the sheet, or maybe contribute if you enable that. Neat app. Dennis

Good morning! So fun to share my projects here, you gals all make me feel so good. Let me answer a couple of questions. These blocks are just various lengths cut from an old 2x4 board. The 2x4's work well because they stand easily and you can do a different design on the back--so two sets from one like these are. You could use any size wood really. 4x4 blocks can be decorated on all sides and flipped. (Nice with photos on each side.) You can also just decorate a length of wood instead of blocks. I use DH's "chop saw" so it is fast and easy to cut them. Then I take the electric sander to them because they are usually pretty rough. A quick coat of acrylic paint and let it dry. Then just cut pieces of scrapbook paper and Mod Podge it to the face of the block. Let me just add that I "could" just decorate them by painting--but using the papers is fun, easy, and faster. I've been cutting letters with my Cricut--but you can buy sheets of letters in all sizes and colors, stencil letters on, etc. Some of the things I added were dimensional "stickers" that I bought for the summer theme. A whole sheet of them on sale at Michael's for $1.49. I also use small silk flowers or layered ones cut from cardstock, ribbons or strips of contrasting paper, leaves cut out of cardstock, buttons, rick rack, etc. That's the fun part and a great way to use up scraps of things since it only takes small pieces. The Mod Podge is great, goes on cloudy but dries clear and fast! Later I will try cutting some vinyl letters, but it is more pricey, so doing the paper letters is good while I'm learning. You can also use thin boards for signs to hang on the wall, and I've seen some "stacked" blocks and boards that are so cute too. Lots of this stuff being created on some of the blogs I've found on the Cricut message boards. And Grandma Bonnie on the Crafts forum here on GW does the vinyl designs for walls and even cars! Once I invest in some vinyl, I'll be able to adhere words and designs to plates, jars, the refrigerator, etc. Really any flat clean surface! (The vinyl can be damp wiped and easily removed--the Mod Podged paper would be difficult to remove.) It does take "time", mostly because I try this and then try that before I decide what to glue where! But it is one of the easiest crafts I've done and just so many possibilities! I've seen some words or names on the glass in a frame and would like to try that too. I've been collecting and saving ideas for things to make, Karen has sent me some good links to blogs and things that she has run across during her nighttime "surfing". (thanks Karen, love it!) OA, the painted sign can certainly be painted on both sides. I often do that if I plan to use it where only one side can be seen. Doesn't work so well if you plan to display it on an easel on the table for instance, so keep that in mind. Hope I've explained things well--if not, just ask--or email me if you'd like. Ok I'm embarrassed to ask, but I just ratted out myself and lack of skill. How do you bake them? Do you make a sheet cake and then cut the shapes?

Gosh those look good ! Especially the second batch. What kind of cake is on the inside and is it hard to frost them ? They sure look pretty, and I agree, I wished I lived close to you too !

lavon-I'll answer your question.You make a cake,any flavor you choose crumble it up and mix the crumbs with canned frosting.You can also use homemade frosting.Shape into balls or whatever and dip in melted chocolate or chocolate bark.You can also make shapes or put them on a stick like a lollipop.Steph made some really cute Spongebob ones and posted the picture here.I would think they are very time consuming.Someday I want to try the lollipop ones.

But oh my, I could not be in the same house with those, heck I think I have to go to the gym just looking at them.
I'm not craving sweets...not pushing Flamey over for the rejects, nope, not me.

Its the first time I have seen anything like these, would love to get my hands on some of them. Well, more like my "mouth", they look SO good, especially now that I know they are dipped in chocolate.

chisue, yes, they are about the size of a bon bon. You could pop one whole one in your mouth but it would be alot. They're more like 2 bites.

Steph, they all look beautiful and so professional! I've been admiring your photos, and I'm thinking of attempting the cake pops and wrapping them in celophane and bows for Sophie's birthday party at the end of September. I was considering buying and painting mini flower pots (one per person) and getting the fake flower foam stuff and sticking a "bouquet" of 3 or four of the cake pops per pot to give out instead of loot bags.

The problem is, I'm not very crafty or creative. Are there any types you'd suggest that would be pretty but not too difficult? I sure would appreciate any tips you have to offer. I'm guessing you're going crazy with millions of people asking for advice. :)

They'd be super cute arranged in a small flower pot, but you could save yourself some time and money if you just got a large pot and put all of them in one pot and just had people take one as a favor. Either way would be fine I think.

You really don't even have to do much to the pop itself. Just use fun colors and some sprinkles. No need to actually make it look like a flower unless you want to get really creative.

I think they make super cute party favors.

I used to take pride in my homemade cakes and pies which I haven't attempted in years.
