Grab a hanky...we lost a furbaby

I was going to say we lost a *special* furbaby, but they are all special, aren't they?

Like so many of you have done here, the tears are streaming down my cheeks as I post about the loss of one of our "kids." Her name was Stow Away, and DH buried her on his way to work this morning---she had been run over on the dirt road we live on. He said she still had the rat in her mouth, so I guess she had been out hunting, and he buried her with the rat. *grinning through tears at DH*

Stow Away was truly a special girl. When she was just a young kitten, she and one of her siblings crawled onto the spare tire under DHs work truck one night. When he left for work the next morning, the kittens stayed put...we had no idea they were sleeping there! After awhile, I called DH and asked if he'd seen the kittens that morning. He said he hadn't, but he stopped the truck (he was 50 miles from home) and checked the spare tire. Sure enough, there was one little frightened gray female kitten...and that's why we named her Stow Away.

She was a favorite for our boy cats to pick on. They'd all been fixed, but the two boys (one in particular) loved chasing her up the tree. I kept trying to tell her that she should turn around and slap them instead of running, but she was a pushover. *grin* She was also the last one we'd expect to be crossing the road, as she normally stuck pretty close to home.

I don't have a recent picture. She was gray with long, scraggly hair, and she will be sorely missed until we meet at Rainbow Bridge and I can cuddle with her once again.
