Yahoo mail question

Hi everyone

Does anyone if it is possible to set a yahoo mail to where you can tell when an email you sent is read?

It is a neat system but I don't know if yahoo has it.

Sign into Yahoo Messenger. I prefer "invisible mode" because I can still get my instant mail without anyone knowing I'm online and they may want to chat when I don't......not saying I'm anti-social...just sometimes like privacy.

I just checked and I guess Yahoo doesn't support a Notice of receipt notice. Outlook has a button that the recipient has to click on in order to read it.

I don't know of any other notification method.

I don't have an Ipad so have no clue. There are some nice forums on apple I am sure and people would know or maybe someone here with an Ipad has a suggestion. Even on the computer I back up my address book and my favorites as you just never know if something might happened and you would need to reload them. Mary

Ok I did not know about that. I tried it but it wants me to log in with my yahoo address and I have a different address registered with that site as I just send any large files right from the site. It's still the same if you use the email feature, you need to zip the whole folder first then navigate to the zipped folder and attach unless you want to click on each file one by one to attach. It's always been like that with that site as far as I know. To me it's no different sending from the site or sending from yahoo. Frankly I can't stand yahoo mail or online mail for that matter and use a mail program then yousend it separate if I need to send a large file. Mary

You definitely don't have to use yahoo simply because you are with uverse. Just because they give you a free email address there nothing says you have to use it. I have never used the email address provided by my provider. I am with comcast they provide an email address, but I have never used it ever. I continue to use my Hotmail which I can access from any pc or tablet anywhere. Changing your address is really not a big deal anymore. Just send out a blanket email to your address book letting everyone know the new one. If you are registered at places with the email address then you can change it easily on the site, they all have an option for that. We all make changes, this is a fairly easy one.

Yes Vista is your version of your windows operating system it comes with IE Internet Explorer that is your browser, since you have Vista it is likely that your version of IE is IE7 to find out for sure just go up to the top where you see Help click on that then on about and it will show you which version of IE you are using. So no need to change from your yahoo. But it is always a very good idea to have more than one browser on any computer because should something bad happen to your IE browser (and it often does) then you will have no other way to get online, so adding firefox as an extra is good preventative medicine. Does not mean you have to use it but it is there just in case. You can leave IE set as your default browser and you will never know you even added firefox. However most that try it really like it, I rarely ever use IE now. a real quick and easy way to know what browser you happen to be using right now is just click on this link and it will give you all the info about it. What's My Browser? this one tells you even more info including what your IP address is and more info you may need Your Browser Details I will add that anyone that is still using IE6 needs to update to IE 7 or 8 as soon as possible you are at risk still using IE6 it is no longer supported and many websites no longer write for it so will not render properly.

When in yahoo mail, click on options. Under General you can click on "show a confirmation page". I have done this when I wanted to make sure an email was read. Hope this helps.

I don't have the confirmation option, but I use the "Classic" version when using it on web (Some accounts are picked up with PopPeeper). Perhaps that's something in the new version?

hmm, I don't have a Confirmation page, under my Options.
I'm using the new version. Unless Canadian and US Yahoo are a bit different.

If we don't sign up for new Yahoo by the deadline, do we get blocked/erased?

Being on landline, and taking forever to download (at home) I find that each update of most things includes more material and takes even longer to download, so I want to continue with the former system, but it looks as though they plan to discontinue it.

It sure will take a lot of work to ship out all of the stuff that I want to keep.

And I've neglected some of the other email addresses that I've had, so forget passwords, etc. I've never used Hotmail ... and some agencies that I want to contact want me to use Hotmail to access them.

You can send a request for a return answer when the mail is read. However, the reader must cooperate and answer the query. The reader can ignore the request and you will not know.

Rats! Mine doesn't have that option. maybe I will email Yahoo and ask them to put that on so it's available.
