Amazing, just amazing.

Your skills and insight impress me so, so much!

Jodi-

so exciting! i love seeing the progress. i would have loved to do a project like this but will have to wait for my next life......lol.

Thanks so much for getting this organized....love the pictures and am amazed at the work done.

Thank you. We've only just begun. I have a lot of things that I want to use in the house...more glassed in cupboards to go in the kitchen and sun porch and old cupboards to use in the pantry/mud room. Lots of little things like towel bars and old sink for the pantry, which will be sort of an extension of the kitchen. I have an old jadite green toilet that I bought for $10 at a junk shop, and plan to put it in the house. Lots of old junk. I have 4 buildings full of all kinds of stuff and I want to use as much of it as I can and the rest, I will get rid of, but I saved it to use in a house some day, so want to try and use as much as possible.

It's going to be amazing Marilyn! Thanks for sharing with us.

You should have your own show on HGTV. It's going to be so neat when it's finished.

Amazing! Really cool to view all the changes & progress! Looks like a LOT of hard work ... and $$$$! Bummer that the guy made of with your $8k.

Take detail photos of all the stuff that goes into the walls before these get covered up. Example items are wiring, plumbing, phone lines, air ducts, vent ducts, etc. Include enough in the picture to identify the location of these object with respect with a feature that will be visible when the house is finished, for example, landmarks such as door facings, etc.

These photos are helpful in verifying where the studs are after you have used a "stud finder" to locate the studs.

While the information is fresh in your mind, print pictures on acid free paper or photo paper, and label. File in a binder of folder for future reference. The experience with my house was that I did not have a reason to refer to these for at least 5 years after construction, but when I needed these, those were valuable. Labeling was very important because 5 to 10 years later, you will be hard pressed to know for sure which wall you are looking at in the photos.

Another detail to include are the firestops in the wall.

Marilyn, I really had no idea how beautiful this house really was until I saw these photos. OMG, you have got a lot of work ahead of you but it is just beautiful. I see now why you fell in love with it. Astounding.

That's a good idea, jemdandy. Right now there is nothing in the walls. We have to wire and plumb the house. It had the old clothe covered wires and were on porcelain type insulators up in the attic. It is an old farm house built just after 1900. It was built from debris left over from the Galveston 1900 hurricane...materials taken by barge and up the Brazos River to a ranch. It became the foreman's house.
Was brick originally.
