Treated myself, this morning and it felt so good.

It's been forever since I had a shampoo with a cut.

And I might do that again next time.

Do you not get your hair cut professionally, or is it just that you usually have it done without a shampoo? The shampoo is the best part!

I get it professionally cut, but it's just a cut.

Used to have a weekly standing appointment with hairdresser for shampoo, and cut when needed. It was a locally owned salon.

One I go to now is Great Clips, a chain. Like the gal that cuts my hair and I paid extra for a shampoo, today, cause I wanted one.

Last year we raised "meat chickens" and put them in cages and sent them off to be killed. I was crying the whole time. It maybe was a little easier because I knew this kind of chicken wasnt bred for a long life. But I felt guilty for raising such a chicken (kind of like the Replicants in Blade Runner) This year we got "mixed heavy breeds" and are keeping the females for laying. We raised, hugged, talked to and spoiled all of them. We started with 15 males. They are now at the point where they are terrorizing the pullets and each other. So weve started butchering them. Five last weekend were the first weve killed ourselves. We decided this was more humane and in a way the completion of the process we had started. My husband cut off the heads, I plucked ,and he eviscerated them. He was cutting up the first when I heard him say"There are live bugs in this crop"we both kind of laughed. But it was just this whole cycle of life thing. It was very hard, the whole thing and harder for him since he actually killed them. We helped each other through it. It was kind of agreement between us to raise these animals, care for them (believe me they had good lives), humanely kill and then eat them. There is something kind of profound about putting into your body food that really comes from the land you live on. There is a wonderful section of a book by John SeymourThe Self-Sufficient Life: Independence on Five Acres (1970) in which he talks about thishe did all his own butchering and was a most kind soul. Has anyone read it?

I am going to say this again, Crassula ovata do not like high humidity if you water as well. One or the other will do. They do not do well in inside conditions They do not like heaters. If so I would grow all of mine in my greenhouse, with water buckets on the floor. They do not do well along the beach. Especially more so if you water as well, In summer they are dormant, building up energy to flower in the winter. They grow after they flower and want to be left alone, you need a damn good reason to even water in the summer, I am in zone 9-10 depending on the year. You must change the soil about every three years, giving them a larger pot for the roots, if you want thick trunks cut off the top. Do not allow multible branching. Pinch off the tips of the leaves to thicken the green on top, but then it may fall over if the pot is not wide enough to support the tops grown, like when trees fall over from a wind and get up rooted after heavy rainfall and wind. I know I do not write well, and think I may have missed something when I tried to explain this. If you notice when they cut back a plant for bonsai, they also cut back the roots, they also wire it into the pot, ask them why they do that. Yes, and don't you find some places are better than others? I am not in the habit of mani and pedis because I find my nails sharp splitting if I go too often. My toes are fine, but I don't bother with them so much in the winter. My daughter gave me a gift certificate that someone gave to her. It is on the second floor of a hair salon, so not a place that you would think to just walk into. The gift card was for $25.00 and this was for a standard pedi. They not only gave a nice foot massage, but they also used hot stones as part of the treatment. They put plastic bags over your feet after they were dry. You then put on your shoes and socks. I guess they don't do this part in the summer. It really felt like a spa treatment. My only complaint was two women did not stop talking as they both got their manis and pedis. When my nails were drying, I saw a small sign post about being respectful of the spa environment. So, they really do want it to be restful.

Irma, Bull Creek is a hunting preserve and always has been. The ecological part is just a extension of that. It was endangered of being closed next door to it is a ranch that was trying to trade other land so they could have bull creek. Thank god it didn't go through the land they tried to trade is already protect and they just want to get red of it. It also would have been a smaller size and would not have worked for hunting. Bull Creek does have a great Florida trail a suitable loop rd a nice but small lake to fish plus creeks. High land and wet lands. Oaks ,pines, Cyprus and lots of other things. I've been going there for 20 years and still have not seen it all.

I do treat myself to a monthly haircut.

I got a haircut today, too. I also wash my own hair before I go. Saves time.

Actually, I'm one of those who don't particularly enjoy going to the hair salon. I go every five weeks for shampoo and cut and then another five weeks for a perm. In other words, I go out of necessity. I have a friend who goes every Friday and gets her hair trimmed as well as shampooed weekly.

I'm also one that doesn't enjoy the hair salon. I just find it a waste of time. I started using clippers on my husband a couple of years ago and got pretty good at it. This summer during the high heat periods the natural curls began to feel like a behive and I took the clippers to myself. I love it. Sometimes the back is a bit tricky but I get through it. But I have many friends that have weekly visits on a specified date and time and they wouldn't have it any other way. It's just not for everyone.

i wouldn't mind getting the shampoo but I'd rather have it after the cut so all the loose hair washes away. Getting a shampoo before the cut seems like a waste of time. I do like the feel of someone washing my hair if they give a good scalp massage.

I can't imagine getting my hair cut without a shampoo and styling. My hair stylist has become a good friend, even though she is young enough to be my DD. We sometimes make plans to meet at a swimming pool or some place. She is the sweetest person and a good wife and mom.

Linda, I go to a chain, and you get a haircut, and generally I wash my hair before going. NO PEOBLEM

I did go to a hair stylist that I went to for 10 years plus, in a local owned salon. He was fabulous. Had a weekly appointment. But he moved out of state and I miss him so.

Good for you for having a person friend as your stylist, Linda.

I go to a small, local shop and it's extra to have your hair cut. I just get it sprayed with water, then cut. When I get home, I hop in the shower to wash off all the stray hair. Works for me.

I love going to the hair salon. I've followed the same hairdresser around from one salon to another for years and we always have something new to talk about. It's like a big gossip fest. I go every 6 weeks for shampoo, color, and cut.
