Wanna see my little Austin?

I feel so much better now that I got to see him. He had a fever most of the day my son said and was pretty quiet. He felt so much better later on. He was so happy to see us. We took him some balloons and that excited him. After we got there we found out that he does have MRSA, my son had an infection in his armpit last month and it looked the same, like a boil. they never told my son he had MRSA, but we assume it was now and it got passed on to Austin. This worries me. I am terrified that the other kids will get it now. I came home last night and scrubbed and soaked everything in bleach water like the nurse said to do, that is about the only thing that will kill any of the germs from it. The toys that couldn't be cleaned in bleach went in the trash. The nurse said not to go nuts about it, just clean really good and things here should be fine. Well...I have the cleanest house on the block I'll bet! I worked until 2:00 this morning to get it done. I read soem stuff about it online and I guess I got paranoid. Anyway he is doing good and may get to go home tomorrow....Friday the lastest if all continues as well as they are. He is getting antsy in that little room and they are getting so worn out following him around with the IV stand! As you can see in the pictures he was doing anything to entertain himself and us! (Not sure whay they are so small, guess you have to click on them to see them!)

Jane, don't listen to him! If you have ever used a sewing machine, then cutting wood pieces will be easy for you. You just trace the outside line of your pattern onto the wood and then feed it into the saw and follow the line just like when you are sewing. And remember, it won't cut unless you push it against the blade, so you can pause anytime to want and don't have to feel rushed at all. I use a scroll saw and prefer either 3/4 inch soft pine or for thin things like this, I prefer the Baltic Birch plywood sheets. I say "prefer" because I will use any scrap of wood I can get my hands on! ;o) And now with all the scrapbooking pages, even if you don't paint, you can create a neat item for your decor. Just cut a shape, spread Mod Podge on it, then press on a pretty sheet of paper, trim the edges, and add a design or letters. I've seen some really neat word blocks recently on some of the blogs. Women CAN use POWER tools! ;o) Glad all of you liked it. OA, I can't take credit for the little tattoo. It was already part of the design from Juliette Martin. I have a few of her books and she does some darling designs. I often hesitate to do her designs because there are so many little details and I usually like quick & easy! Painting is like most other things, the more you do it, the easier it is. So yes, I was feeling a bit rusty-- struggling more with the small detail items especially and some of my outlines are thicker than I'd like. But overall, it's okay, and lots more fun and durable than just buying a paper decoration at Michael's. ;o) Luvs

Punk, I'll get some measurements posted for you later today, okay? He was a great way to use up an old 2x4. You know I don't mind if you use the idea--that's exactly what I did! ;o) You are all right--he probably does need a Mrs. I can picture her now--rounded corners for the hat brim, a red (or purple) hat maybe with some holly and berries glued on, and some red beads in place of the scarf. Oh, and cute little heart shaped lips! LOL Jeanne, I loved your play on words! You are so funny. Let me tell you, these piles of wood do get a bit heavy--I was surprised at the weight of him! Jane, don't you think the word for this little guys expression is "hopeful"? That's what I see when I look at his face--maybe he's hoping that he won't melt too quickly here in the California sunshine! LOL Luvs

Thanks, Bellsmom! I wish I could do that myself. I have MBR pics, but they're espresso maple in a dark bathroom. They're also a neat combination of cabs. :) And everyone for the compliments! I'm really happy with how they're coming out. It might take me forever to paint or stain, but in the meanwhile everything's going in them instead of boxes piled against the wall. I actually find the skinny, 4-drawer drawers useless. That's why I originally ordered 3-drawer. My plan, someday, is to do what I did with the (extra) cabinets in my MBR. I took out two drawers and one set of drawer glides. I cut out the face frame and put in a single deep drawer. Like the big ones on the 3-drawer. Then, I attached the drawer fronts back onto the big drawer so it looks just like it started. Deeper drawer are much more functional than 2.5" deep drawers. Now I can put stuff actually in them. With 18" cabinets, the drawers can only be 15" deep. Need all the space I can!

Poor little guy. I hope he gets out soon. I know so many people with MRSA. It seems like it is becoming very common.

I'm glad to hear he's doing good. I dont envy them trying to keep him entertained in that room. I can imagine how antsy he would be.

LOVE the diaper on his arm/hand. Funny! But good idea to cover the IV stuff.

What a cutie, I'm so happy they diagnosed it quickly and that he is doing better. I love the 3rd picture. "Don't mess with me anymore". That MRSA is scary.

I am finding out just how common this is too. So many people I have talked to about it has known someone with it. I read too that it is a major concern because we are so immune to anitbiotics in our country and they can't keep up with this one. One dr said the way it's going everyone will have had it within 10 years. This really scared me. Maybe I should read so much online huh? He is really responding to the meds though. All the swelling and redness is gone and my son just called to tell me he's most likely going home tomorrow. Both of their employees have been so generous with the time they need. Thank you all and keep him in your thoughts for me!!

Judging by that last picture I'd say he's feeling better. Poor little guy just want to have a little fun. Glad he is doing better.

It's gratifying that he's doing so well and expected to be home soon.

Remember how they used to prescribe antibiotics for just about everything, years ago?

And if the doc didn't, on his/her own initiative ... the patients pretty well demanded it (as if they knew better than the doc!).

Or ... do now, for that matter - lots of us still do it.

Was it being in on the latest thing?

Or keeping up with the Joneses (and Smiths)?

Surely we knew back then that the bugs amend their coping systems to co-exist with the new enemies?

This is the legacy with which we have been stuck with coping, in recent years.

P.S. I thought for a minute, there, when I read your subject line, that you'd been able to lay your hands on a classic little English automobile.

By the way - the mini Cooper is a direct descendant (by looks, anyway) of the Austin Mini that was popular in England about 40 years ago.

What a cutie and little trooper! So glad to hear Austin will be home soon.

I just found out my friend's baby girl was diagnosed with MRSA and it was just like a boil on her bottom..she's home now, too.

I'm so happy to hear Austin is feeling better. It's hard to keep a toddler down even when they're not up to snuff. Love that last picture!

Bless his heart. I hope he can come home soon - it's so hard to see a little angel be sick. Keep us posted on his progress, and I'll continue the prayers for his speedy recovery.

How sweet! He's checking out things in that room & trying to get smiles instead of worried looks on faces in hopes they'll finally let him out so he can get back to his regular business.
