I believe those who have passed on visit us in dreams. My mom died a few years ago and I dream about her occasionally, though it's always about our life before she died and in the dream I'm not "aware" that she's dead now. Which always makes me mad when I wake up because there are so many things I want to ask her and to make sure she's okay now but perhaps there's a reason why I don't get the chance. :)

I think your friends widow will find comfort even if it's a little painful. Maybe your friend was trying to use you to pass on a message that he's okay. I think some people are more open to communication than others so they get these visits, and sleeping makes it even easier.

I don't know where this originated. I think it may be an old german thing. when you dream of a funeral there will be a wedding and when you dream of a wedding there will be a funeral. You never dreamed of the funeral though but I'm just mentioning it. It has come true on a few occasions with me though.

I had a similar dream. I was in the hospital and people were standing around my bed. I was dying and I knew it. A very good friend of mine, who died over two years ago, was standing at the foot of my bed. Even though I knew I was dying, I wasn't afraid. My friend turned and walked out of the room. Next scene in my dream, I was walking down my driveway towards my house. The friend who died, had given me his truck, and as I passed by the truck parked there, I saw a letter written on about 3 sheets of notebook paper, in pencil, folded in half, stuck in between the side mirror and the truck door. (My friend used to write to me sometimes (before he died, of course), so I instantly knew the letter was from him. I started reading the letter and he said he was sorry he had to leave the room when I was dying but he couldn't handle it, but he wanted to tell me that he thought I was very brave.

And then I woke up. I didn't get to finish reading the letter. I took care of this friend for several years before he died and I was with him when he died. We knew he was dying and had often talked about it. I had asked him to please give me a sign, if any way he could, when he had passed on. I was so disappointed I couldn't finish reading the letter.

Even though he was very close to me, I don't dream about him very often, but the last time I dreamed about him, he called me on the phone, and asked me why don't you come see me anymore. I said, "You don't live where you used to live." (I didn't want to tell him that a niece that he disliked now lives in his house.) Then I said, "You died."
He said, "Are you sure?" I said, "Yes, I was there when it happened." and then I woke up.

I've dreamed that I died several times, and I always wake up making a horrific sound that I cannot duplicate when I'm awake. The sound scares the living daylights out of anyone else who is in the house at the time.

I don't know if any of you watch the TV program, "I survived beyond and back." The documented stories are amazing, and they have made me completely unafraid to meet my maker when the time comes.

I believe in the spirit world ,plus I was raised as a Roman Catholic. I have had several dreams about my late Mom, who passed in 2011. In them, I'm at her house and see her and we converse but never anything deep, like speaking of death or heaven,etc. Just everyday chatting. In the dreams, I'm not even aware she's dead. But when I awake I wish the dream would last longer. Rationalizing the next day, I think she is "visiting" to let me know she's okay. I saw my late Dad in of of the dreams also. I find the dreams comforting. If nothing else, they make me feel at peace thinking my parents still exist somewhere.
