I don't have a cooler in the car, but I do keep an insulated bag for things that need to be kept cool. A cooler is a great idea! I'll have to get mine out of the attic....

I have one of those insulated bags that I keep to cover ice from melting in my water bottle,, when I'm out of the car. Sure helped during this hot summer.

If we are going out for a day of shopping we put in our large insulated keep cold zip up bags and load it with a bunch of frozen blue ice. We buy those small blue ice when they are on sale and keep them in the freezer at all times.
I did just recently buy a really nice small cooler for in the car. I always have my big insulated water bottle of ice water but I carry extras in case I run out.

Yes. DS has one he transfers from car to car since we are always stopping and at a market of some kind. He freezes big bottle of water and they really keep things cold until we get home

I keep an insulated bag in the car, but I can't do the blue ice packs as I have a very small freezer and there's just not room.

no, I don't. But I do have a blanket or a quilt back there.
I don't do grocery shopping in the middle of errands. I make sure to do it as the last errand. And if it is a hot day, I might wrap up the frozen stuff in the blanket, Or just bring that bag into the front seat as the air conditioner is probably on. lol

Dollar Tree has or HAD those blue ice packs

I just read that starting next week Dollar Tree will accept coupons. I never go there, but maybe I might go and have a look/see.

I occasionally put a cooler in the car-such as last week when DD wanted Boarshead chicken from the Publix deli but I did my main shop at Winn Dixie. Stopped at Public first. Orinnarily I come right home after my big grocery shopping, but a cooler comes in handy sometimes! I have a few different sizes.

If anyone is thinking-thats a good idea-I think you will start seeing clearances on coolers and blue ice after Labor Day.

I keep a cooler in the trunk-great for keeping frozen foods cold-by the way, when you shop, pick up the frozen food LAST. Also good to keep hot foods hot if you are taking food to a party, etc.

I did but my son borrowed it and I never got it back! It's even handy to put things in so they don't rattle around in the trunk.

We put one in if there is a reason for it like we are going to Sam's Club which is 60 miles from home or to Austin where I might shop.

I don't eat at any place that leftovers would have a chance to spoil before I got home and I arrange it so that we are shopping for food last on the list of things to do.

We don't keep it in the car, but anytime we're going out, we grab it, and the blue ice packs from the freezer, and put them in the car. I actually don't like storing the cooler in the car, it gets too hot, and takes too much to cool it down. We bring it in everytime, and often store it IN THE FREEZER so it's as cold as possible when we use it. We also have a second cooler that's electric--it's actually a small refrigerator that I can plug into the household outlet in the back of the car, or it has an adapter that works in the cigarette lighter.

Just this morning we were out and about. Mainly our once-a-week treat excusion. We took a nice drive, had lunch out (leftovers went in the cooler), stopped at a farm market and AMish market--perishables went in the cooler. Even if we don't think we'll need it, we figure it's better to have the cooler than not. DD has a pop-up insulated bag, that she almost never leaves home without (especially when coming to Mom's Take-Out Restaurant--she always cleans me out of my leftovers--LOL)

I use one of those cooler bags in the summer. I have a 30 minute drive home from the grocery store - so I put a couple blue ice blocks in the bag before I go and put the stuff that needs to stay the coldest in the bag. They work great!

I've accumulated several thermal bags of different sizes and materials--one is a knockdown nylon cooler. Nice to have for meat and frozen things, which also start out so cold that there isn't really a need for blue ice in the short distance to home.

I sure do, in Fla you have to! I usually have 2 of them, one is a large cooler bag.

If I think I'm going to the store and buying cold stuff, I put the cooler with frozen ice packs in the trunk. We use it all the time.

Today a friend and I went to Des Moines, which is 30 miles away. We checked out the new Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Hy-Vee stores. We should have brought a cooler so we could have gotten frozen foods at TJ. We decided to go again before the snow flies and take a cooler with ice packs in it.

I don't see how it would do much good as hot as the trunk of a car can get in the weather we have had the last couple of summers. I do my shopping then buy groceries on the way home. I do have an insulated bag, but never use it.

When I remember. I have at least ten of the reusable bags for ordinary groceries and I keep them in the car. Even so, I have a hard time remembering to bring them into the store with me!

Since I don't have a car, no I don't. Husband has a car but does not keep one in it. You don't need a cooler for Little Debbie treats :) Cheryl has a small one in her trunk and the hard ice packs. Amber and I always take insulated bags and sometimes the hard ice packs.

I keep a cooler in both of my cars. If I go to Pierre which is 40 miles away I uusally need it. When we go to Bismarck which is 3 hours away I for sure need it. I like to shop in ND because there is no sales tax on grocery and there is more competition because there is more grocery stores to choose from. In Pierre all we have is WM and a Super Valu. We have a grocery store 9 miles over but I don't go in there very ofter because the prices are high beins it is a town of 700

I just arrange my errands so that the groceries are bought last... then go home. I do have two insulated bags to use.

But I PUT one in the car if we are traveling to Costco, as that is a 77 mile round trip.
