A friend of my brother named all of his cars. It was a ritual. A cousin named his old red pickup "Old Red". I started calling my last mini pickup "Trucky", occasionally, and the last van, instead of calling it "the van" and "the truck" or the "pickup" which I was used to saying for so many years, just wasn't appropriate and somehow I started just saying "Vanna". The new(est) one? No name. Just give it compliments fairly often for serving me well and being there when needed.

Old GF called her car "Betsy" and (after realizing how functional they were after being in mine enough) when she bought a mini pickup called it "BJ" (Betsy Jr.)

Sister calls hers "Goldy" (gold color). I know there's others, but can't think of them offhand.

For the past 20 years or so I have traded my car every 2-3 years so no, I really didn't get attached to them like I used to do. We usually refer to them as some part of the make/model. The one Mini Cooper has been called "Coop", we call the explorer "Red" (guess what color it it is....hehehehe).

Nope, I usually just refer to it by the model name.

I never have... around here it's "white truck", "big truck" or the "car".

The only car of mine that had a name was my Eclipse which a friend pegged as "the bullet" and that name stuck.

Hey, cynic - my minivan is called Betsy too. I never named a car before this one, but I love her so much I just couldn't keep referring to her as The Sienna.

Yes I always name them. Right now it's Ray Charles as I purchased it on Ebay and it was in Georgia and it was on my mind lol. My husband flew down to get it and drive it home. I saved 4 grand doing it that way and my Toyota van is now 5 years old and has never needed a repair other than maintenance. My last van was Nanaban. My grand named it and she couldn't pronounce her vees.

My first car as a teen was a '66 Pontiac Tempest (used) and because it had faded, but had been red, I indeed named it "the tomato!"

Now I have my Genny or simply Gen. The car is a Hyundai Genesis, which I LOVE!!!!

My previous car was "Bessie". My Cadillac's color is "White Diamond", so we call her "Diamond Lil". DH calls the truck "Galoot" because it is big.

We had an old Volkswagen once, aptly named Murphy. You know... Murphy's Law.

I only give it a name with it is giving me trouble. I have a friend though that names her vehicles. Her last vehicle was Frank because she got it from Frank, her dad. The truck died about a month after her father passed away. Freaky!

I remember one day joking with some friends about my cars and their names. The minister overheard our conversation and that Sunday the sermon was all about how we shouldn't name inanimate objects. Sheesh...some people have no sense of humour. I wonder if he named any of his stuffed toys when he was growing up.

My grandson asked what our cars where called so I told him the make. He said 'no Nannie what are their names?' I let him name those 2, Bertha and Flash. We have since traded in Bertha and gotten Martha. SO and I named her Martha after the lady that had owned her first. I will say it's harder to trade a car you've named than one that doesn't have a name.

No, haven't named the car, but we did name the GPS :-) When I bought my Droid (phone) it had a GPS in it and we named it Susan (because my daughter refers to hers as Susan). Then we bought a Garmin GPS and named it Janelle because I had a friend Susan way WAY back in High School, who had a sister named Janelle. It's kind of fun calling them by name, instead of just 'the GPS'.

Jel, I came here just to say the same thing about naming the GPS, the female voice to be specific. We've named her a couple times but being the age we are, we keep forgetting what her name is. LOL

I did name my bicycle. I received it on the first day of Spring when I was eleven "Gladiola Springdrop" I rode all over the South Side of Chicago to the museums on it. My gal pal and I were alwys on our bikes good memories

My 92 chevy truck used to be The Silver Bullet but now that the paint has done the typical 92 chevy paint peel it's gray primer under the silver paint so I just call it The Old Man or Grandpa...boohoo...

We have always named every one of our vehicles, even before we were married. They become part of the family, so why not name them. Hubby's car is a brown volvo wagon, so Brownie is its name. My car is a bright yellow Ford Scion named Tweety. He's my "Tweety Mobile" and has Tweety decals on the doors, Tweety floormats and license plate frame, and Tweety things inside.

My husband had a cube truck he used in his business and somehow we always called it "Cubert". I call my golf cart, my Big Rig.
