LOL! I use that method too! But I have a Triangle Jag under my Kitchen Cabinet someone made my Mom. I keep forgetting it's there. When I remember it's wonderful to have.

My problem is the push down and turn like the top on Liquide Plummer.

If you use the blunt end of a church key on the edge of the lid, it breaks the vacuum seal. Then the lid just twists right off. I learned this tip from my son who learned it from my mother!

I keep a square of that rubberized shelf lining in a K. drawer. Handy. I also have a hard time with those push-down-turn tops like on bowl cleaner.

My sister had several of those gripper pads and they got thrown out when someone was "cleaning". Oh she was upset, she hasnt got much strength in her hands and wrists anymore. I cut some of the rubber shelf liner into circles and she loves them.

I love those rubber gripper pads too.. The arthritis in my hands is ever worsening, so yep, anything that works is good in my book..

I made my gripper out of the shelf liner, works great.

This is not like mine. Mine is homemade from saw blades. But this one is similiar. A must have for RA folks.

Wrapping a thick rubber band around the lid sometimes gives you enough "grip."

That was the only thing that finally got me into a Costco container of cashews. That container was a wide-mouth one, plastic, and quite a pain in the butt! But those cashews are worth working for!

Thanks for the tip about the rubber glove -- so simple and I never thought of it.

I have a top popper and a couple of the rubber disks around. Heard about using rubber gloves, rubber bands and that too. {{!gwi}}I just keep a strap wrench similar to this one around. That adjusts to most any size from a top of a bottle of Louisiana Hot Sauce to the jar lid on an institutional size jar. I often have two of them around (they came in a set of two, and I got them free after rebate) and that way I can use the two together to get extra leverage if needed.

I got some of those Rubber Gloves with Ribs ("free") with my squeezee socks, to help position them when I don't get them started on straight ... and they work great for that.

I don't have to put them on, just take one in each hand and they yank that sock around to where it's supposed to be.

Those kitchen gloves are miraculous at getting pet hair off of furniture, drapes, etc. Just dampen slightly and wipe. Hair comes right up.

I have an OXO jar opener with the V-shaped teeth, but sometimes the only thing that works is to break the vacuum seal by prying up a lid -- as lowspark learned from her mother via her DS! (That's a neat twist!)

Something I learned from one of my DS's friends is to tilt a ketchup bottle about 70 degrees to help the ketchup flow out. If you turn the bottle completely upright, no air can get into the bottle and a vacuum forms, keeping the ketchup from flowing out. (Thanks, Mike!)
