I'm going to work tomorrow (what a concept!).

I haven't done any work outside the home since I quit the library job in December. Then a few weeks ago the publisher of our local daily newspaper asked me to fill in for a couple of weeks or so until they hire a new reporter/photographer. So that's what I'll be doing starting tomorrow at 8:00.

I am so not used to getting up and getting out of here in the morning. (My last job was evening hours.) I know those of you who leave the house early each morning will have zero sympathy for me. And that includes my son, who leaves his house at 5:30 a.m. :-)

It'll be strange being in that newsroom and not knowing what I'm doing. When I worked at the paper full time, I was on top of everything that went on there. But I left eight years ago, and a lot of changes have taken place since. New computer programs, new people, etc. I always said the hardest part of a job is getting adjusted in the first couple of weeks. So I guess this time I'll experience the hardest part, and then I'll leave. LOL

I'm sure you'll be fine but as you said as soon as you get comfortable with things it will be time to go......unless they offer you more work! Not sure if that would be a good or bad thing for you right now.
Get to bed early tonight so you'll be ready for the dreaded alarm.

Oh - I Wasn't selling ( but now that I've seen it - I wish I was ! ) I would have made a killing . There was nothing there like I make. Anyway - here the report ...... \-\-\- Of 121 booths , 39 of them were beaded jewelry It got to the point I just walked right by them without even looking. There was alot of things made with fleece \- those things with the knotted edges. Alot of quilted table runners and doilies. Not alot of floral \- surprisingly. Remember those gel candles ? One lady made them and put figurines in them ( birds,dogs etc...) It looks bizarre \-\- gel candles have little bubbles in them and it lookes like the things were drowning inside. eeewwww.... One guy sold home made dog cookies and treats \- his booth was crowded. One lady had bottles with fabric covering the whole thing and decoupaged on. Then she had lights in the bottles . Not bad. There was alot of handmade greeting cards & ornamnets that could be personalized. One booth caught my eye \- she had painted Gourds with holes cut into them and made into lights. SHe had them decorated with beads and wires and it actually looked pretty . Speaking of lights \- one booth had table lamps all made with baskets for the base. I liked them ! Well \- that's about it ... nothing new \- but it was a nice show. I only saw one import ... I know because I used to buy wholesale from this company. I'd say most everything there was handmade. I might have to enter this show next year ... !! LOL

And today is my first visit here after looking up adrenaline I sure understand better now That's what I have going on MY NATURE'S PACE MAKER.working. Adrenaline After a stay in icu heart recently everyone finally agreed i am mot crazy.it was.my heart. The docs installed is a device catch my heart acting badly is a heart tracker like halter monitor. Under my chest muscles on top of my heart. I can cause it record what just happened.. iam write with excitment because your stories are all so familiar. These stories for me begin after mitral valve repair. 7 years ago. Basic problem ..unless the doc sees the heart behaving badly they deny the problem. All this time we never could catch it Last doc said bluntly if we dont see it didnt happen. You must to er Well recent at 230 am it woke me up, just as you have described. I went directly to the er They caught the serious thing! Arrithemia and more then two days in icu. Now meds have slowed my heart from 70 to 52 while docs decide what to do. Last night I realized I was having an adreilin rush. The same rush I went to a neurologist for help. Over a year and half. Often it also affect my skin. Goose bumps crawling feeling all day long! Well have I got news for him.I was not crazy about that either. my gp I visited last month just to say. I know you don't know what is wrong but I still got it. Knows too I sat in neros office two months ago ,,,same thing. I said dr i just want you know ME when I end up in er..and i need you. well it was er straight to icu. Home now with electrical issues. Last last night meds have my average at 52 bpm.it woke me. 2 3 am. I use my tricks to get back to sleep.as soon as felt sleep coming on the stomach feeling spread. It woke me up heart pounding.sweat .out of breath!!! Happened several times . then checked average heart rate on my Garmin. 48. Average 48 so i was probably lower. Maybe 45! My natural pace maker kicked in every time sleep lowered bpm and I was short on air. Natural pace maker? Adrenaline can't wait to see what was recorded on my device Thank you body! Now I think i know what as going on for long time hidden from doc view. Electric shock adrenaline style

Boy Miss Cathy, you ARE impatient! I barely got them out of the truck into the garage. I do have an idea or two rolling in my head. I just have to finish up a memory box for a friend before I bring it into the kitchen. See, I don't have a studio, I have a kitchen! I have hooked up my printer and think I am going to utilize that to do a pattern. Not sure, never tried it before. I promise I will keep you posted, I must say your impatience is keeping me focused! Thank you tracefloyd, and deegw. You both have been very helpful. That’s exactly what my problem has been, trying to figure out how to blend the grey flooring with everything else without getting grey furniture since,as you mention grey is going out. The grey floor was already here when I moved in. I don't like it at all , but I’ll have to live with it , at least for a while since I have to get other things. That’s the reason why I got a brown dining room table [maybe walnut I’m not sure} that has a little warm to it. But since my living room and dining area are together , meaning one in front of the other in an open space ,the color palette has to blend some how. So , I want to pick a color for the living room chairs that would look good with two fabric chairs at the end of the dining table, I don't have those yet. But I’m not sure how much the coffee table , end tables, dining room chairs and buffet or console in the dinning area need to match with each other and with the grey floor. The alarm clock would be what I'd dread the most. Just the other day, I was wondering if I'd be able to do my old job at all anymore with all the changes that have had to have taken place since I left over 7 yrs ago.

Good luck, and enjoy the experience as much as you can. (And of course, you have to report in to us).

Adapting to change is what keeps us young. You'll be glad you did this and if you don't just think how lucky you are that you can walk away if you want to.

I enjoy the mornings more when my cell phone alarm sings out "Good Morning, good morning" . It's a catchy little tune that doesn't bother my ears at all. I found it on my phone's ring options and the alarm is so easy to put in, unlike my dh's alarm by the bed.

That's wonderful! Go to bed a little earlier, get up with enough time so you don't have to rush around. It's only temporary. I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks, guys! I usually have trouble getting to sleep a couple of nights a week--one reason why I liked working evenings. I'm counting on adrenalin (from my new adventure in the newsroom) to carry me through on those days.

Toni, I used to sing "Good morning, good morning!" to my kids when they were little. They hated it. LOL

I admire your strength and courage, Susan! It's a hard job. You're right, the learning curve may be formidable, but your good instincts - your "nose" - remain. Probably some of your old sources will be delighted to see you again. Enjoy yourself! It'll get your blood going!

I don't sleep well when I have to get up to an alarm clock. Enjoy your new job while it lasts. I am sure they are happy to have you there.

You'll be perfect - I have no doubt that your writing and photography skills will enable you to do whatever the newsroom needs. And since you're friendly and social you'll be part of the team in no time.

The hardest part will be getting back in the habit of getting up so early. I'm available to give you a wake-up call if necessary.

PS- sharpen your pencils!

Maire, thanks for reminding me that I have to empty the memory card in my camera* and figure out how to use the digital recorder my DD gave me recently. My original one gave out last year, so it was good timing to get one now.

*Yes, the newspaper probably expects me to use my own camera. I don't mind......when I first went to work for them in 1999 we had to develop our own film. I was glad when they switched to digital and I could say goodbye to darkroom chemicals. Although their smell reminded me of happy childhood times in my dad's darkroom.

I used to have to develop my own film in college photography courses. Ah, I loved that whole experience and the smell which lingered on my clothes. I went to a liberal school and felt so free to express myself. Protests and pictures and free speech. Enjoy it. I get the feeling you are not just an ordinary gal.(Not that there is anything wrong with that!!)

Obviously the publisher has confidence in you, Susan. Yes, you'll be so excited the adrenaline will push you out of bed in the morning. Good luck and enjoy your temp status!
