Computer trouble !!

I was having trouble with my computer. So I called little Richard, the 11 year old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.

Richard clicked a couple buttons on my computer and solved the problem.

As he walked away, I called after him, "So what was wrong?"

He replied, " It was an ID ten T error."

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nevertheless inquired, "An ID ten error?, Whats that? In case I need to fix it again...."

Richard,grinned, "Haven't you ever heard of ID ten error before?"

"No," I replied.

'Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure it out."

So I wrote it down.

Oh wow, that is hilarious. And we thought we were advanced when we got a push button phone. He's really up on his buttons. Little sh!t. LOL

Good One! I guess it is a fairly common term among those who 'help' others. I'm heading over to Computer Help to see how many there have maybe heard of or used the term before.

Per a search it looks like he might have meant ID-Ten-T Error

I order from them every year and they do fine, if not a bit late (in Southern California standards). I remember writing to Richard Fayey in New York in February saying that it was now 80 degrees here and can he ship my scionwood order early, and he replied that yeah he could, but he'd have to tromp through about 3 feet of snow in about a 1-1/2 mile circuit in 8-degree weather just to cut my scionwood, Mr. 80-degrees in February- I wrote back never mind, that's OK. I think I still got them a week or so later.

I've always wanted to be on a jury, but have never been asked to. My son's presence was requested in our county when he was 21, in the army and stationed in Germany. I let them know he most likely was not going to show up. DH was called up -- he just ignored the whole thing and didn't get in any trouble. Meanwhile, I sit at home wanting to serve and they refuse to let me!

As Pooh suggests, try not using the Standby feature. Instead set you monitor and hard drive to stop after 10 or 15 minutes and see what that does. Right click on an open area of the desktop to access the pop up for changing those settings. On the photos your 640 c 480 files will, probably be well under 500 kb So you can expect to get well over 1,000 photos on a CD. If these are in a folder trying opening Windows Explorer - right click Start then click Explore. Now right click on the folder and click Properties. The pop up will tell you many files and the total size of the folder.

E Gads, Chemocurl....I re-read the email I got with this joke and found I omitted the T in ID ten T error. Talk about lousing up a joke. I really need to have cataract surgery....fast. Sorry, ID ten T...AKA Dottie

It was written correct the first time, but wrong the 2nd time. Still funny.

My son is a techhie ... so I sent this to him. He's fixed many ID Ten T errors for me and DH ... and laughs at us each time!

Thanks for sharing ... I know he's going to love this.

PICNIC: "Problem In Chair, not in Computer"

I work in IT, and we refer to it as a PEBKAC error.

Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair.

It is sometimes written as PEBCAK --
