Hi Ann, I have all types of clematis in my garden but most of them are the type II or type III. I have them planted in every kind of exposure and Miquel is right, they will bloom all over. All of the types have (so far) done well in my garden. As you know, that could change at any minute. I think you would love the look of them mixed with your roses and you will keep finding more and more places to grow them. They are as addicting as roses. I have them with every rose, growing up the poles the birdhouses are on, on obelisks in the middle of the beds....I keep shoving more into the garden :-). Two that I know you would love with the bell shaped blooms are Betty Corning, a vigorous clematis with fragrance and Rooguchi but the big flowered ones are beautiful as well. I love all of them. Very Nice. I like both of them. The Dandelion for its subtle coloring and symmetry. The thistle for its more intense coloring and the sheer exuberance of the seed heads bursting with seeds.

For sure. I think you need about 1.5" of depth to create the space needed for the light board and the diffuser. If you spend more money you can get the lights even closer together. When I played with the diffuser panel I could set it about 3/4" away from the lights and it looked good. At an inch it was perfect. Gaining this space for your window feature would most likely mean you would have to open up the drywall and modify the wall framing a little. Like the barrier free bathrooms I build when this is done it needs to be done right and often a structural engineer is the guy to say if or if not this can be done.

Jolana, the dwarf Barbados cherry pictured is planted in soil that had been improved for roses along the drive way and is about 5 ft by 5 ft. Others in more rocky soil are about 3 x 3, healthy with fruit and flowers, and dark green leaves and no chlorosis -- which is most remarkable in my alkaline soil and water. Glad you found the tree form you've been wanting ... :-) Molly, I've recently planted two Canyon Creek abelias also after falling in love with the one Plantmaven Kathy had! They are growing fast, but haven't bloomed yet.
