I once saw deep fried sour pickles. Does not sound good.

I think Nita was brave enough to try it at the Florida state fair this spring. I'll try anything once--the salty/sweet combination sound pretty good.

Dances and I had some at the Florida State Fair back in February. It was okay, nothing wonderful and not gross either. You got strips of bacon and a cup of some melted chocolate that you dipped it in. Nothing I would go back for seconds of.

They had it at our fair. People said it was OK. Not great, not bad.

I had some fried cheesecake (yum) and battered and fried avocado slices (yum). I loved weird and different foods. Always something new at the fair!

They've had both of those here. Also the Kool-Aid pickles (pickles soaked in Kool-Aid), hotdish on a stick, spaghetti & meatballs on a stick and I don't remember what all else there was. I haven't been to the fair in a long long time. Would like to go again but just can't get around well enough. I suppose I could buy a scooter thing but fighting the crowds in that wouldn't be a good time in my opinion.

And I thought deep-fried Twinkies were gross!

I do like bacon and molasses, though. I often have a bacon and molasses sandwich for lunch.

I've had the fried dill pickles before at Long John Silvers and they were pretty good, but I would not buy bacon with chocolate, I like them both but not together.

I love to find all the weird food. My all time favorite is the fried cheesecake. We have a place here in our tiny town that makes it. We have not been to any of the fairs yet here, maybe we will this year. Ours in September I think.

I might try the chocolate covered bacon just to see what it was like. I like bacon with maple syrup poured over it.

The weirdest thing I have ever eaten was at the Gilroy Garlic Festival and that was garlic ice cream.

I have made PIG CANDY before

Bacon (several strips)
Brown Sugar (enough to coat strips of bacon)

Directions

1. Coat uncooked bacon in some dark brown sugar.

2. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Or longer until crisp.

I put mine on the broiler pan, so the grease can drip down thru the slits. And turn couple times.

Fried dill pickles dipped in ranch dressing are wonderful,now I want some.

The Iowa State Fair has deep fried everything. Twinkies, Snickers bars, etc., etc. I have never tried anything deep fried.

Hi from the land of cholesterol (Texas)! We even have deep fried bacon. Yup, batter a slice of bacon and deep fry it. We also deep fried ribs--same process--batter, lots of hot grease.
People who attend the Texas state fair can get clogged arteries just from the aromas floating over the midway.

My reason for going to the Fair is CHEESE CURDS! YUM YUM!

The best thing (and actually good for you) was grilled pork chop on a stick!!!

I think I might even like the bacon and chocolate, but I would never spend money on it.

We haven't been to the Fair for several years.

Yes, Trinitytx, I love sweet corn too. Amber's is just about ready. I helped her snap a bunch of green beans she picked this morning from her garden. I bought home a nice sized pan of them to cook and also lots of little yellow tomatoes. Her cucumbers have done really well too and so have my zucchini, but doesn't everyone's zucchini do well?

I like fried cucumbers and zucchini, maybe I should dip them in chocolate!

The chocolate-dipped bacon was okay. If you like sweet bacon, then you probably would think it was alright. I can't say that even the most die-hard bacon or chocolate fan would go home and make it there, though. Since DH and DD dip their bacon in maple syrup, I think they would like it fine LOL.

Fried pickles are great. They are usually served with ranch dressing but I personally like them better with honey mustard dressing.

I'd try the bacon/chocolate thing. As Emeril would say, "It's a pork fat thing".

I love deep fried pickles! I also love deep fried asparagus, califlower, mushrooms can't think of others right now.

My carnie fried cut chunks of a block of cheddar cheese, also mozzarella, and deep fried them at a local festival a few weeks ago. [[That was supposed to be, "My carnie friend cut chunks ..." ... but when I saw the typo, I thought it too delicious to delete/amend!]]

Deep fried Mars bars, too.

I liked both.

Not about to make them part of my regular diet, though, I think.

The Kool-Aid pickles sound pretty odd to me.

Fried cheese is good, you can buy them a place or two around our town, you can also buy them frozen at the grocery. I do not like chocolate on my fruit, only maybe bananas. I will eat chocolate covered strawberries, but I really would rather have them plain, white chocolate is good.
